Notices of Determination 2001 . Liverpool to Parramatta Rapid Bus Transitway . Approved: 14 December 2001 . Description:Thetransitway is a major $200 million transport infrastructure project funded by the NSW Government and jointly undertaken by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) and the Department of Transport (DoT). It will provide 21 kilometres of a two lane bus only roadway of which 21 kilometres will be on new roadway. Thirty-five transitway stations along the route will service communities. Involves the construction and operation of 132 kV electricity cables, from the Haymarket to Surry Hills. The cables will be located in a tunnel, to be built as part of the project. Description:The Roads and Traffic Authority propose to upgrade the Great Western Highway between Victoria Pass and Mid Hartley Road, 16 km east of Lithgow. The proposal forms part of the Great Western Highway Upgrade Program and has been developed to improve travel efficiency. The Department's assessment of the proposal has concluded that following the existing highway alignment would be superior in terms of economic, social and environmental impacts to the RTA's preferred option which included a deviation at Little Hartley. The RTA supports this recommendation and will be required to upgrade the highway along the existing alignment as a Condition of the Minister's Approval. LGA:Greater Lithgow . Value:$15.8 million . Description:Bulga Coal Pty Limited has been granted approval to mine up to 6 million tonnes of coal per annum with a mine life of between 6 to 10 years. The proposal involves the extraction of a coal through a sequence of 8 long-wall panels, which are to be located to the west of the current Bulga open cut mining operation. An existing road will provide access to the associated surface facilities. Access facilities to the underground workings for personnel and materials will be established in the existing Whybrow Pit. Description:Consent has been granted to Stage 1 for the mine to undertake underground coal mining, and construction and operation of associated surface facilities. Penrith STP Amplification and Glenbrook Waste Water Transfer . Approved: 12 November 2001 . Description:Amplification of Penrith STP to 31 ML/day to cater for growth in the Penrith sewage catchment and to allow for the decommissioning of the Glenbrook STP. Description:The RTA's proposed Cross City Tunnel (CCT) is a major $400M road infrastructure project recognised in the Government's Action for Transport 2010 to be of significance to the economy, environment and planning of Sydney and New South Wales. Key features of the proposal include a 2-kilometre tunnel generally running east/west below William/Park and Druitt Streets, connecting the Kings Cross tunnel with the Western Distributor. New connections are also proposed at the Eastern Distributor and at Sir John Young Crescent. A new, 39-metre high tunnel emissions ventilation stack is proposed in Darling Harbour located near to the IMAX theatre. Traffic would be tolled electronically in each direction - $2.50 for the main tunnel and $1.10 for traffic exiting to Sir John Young Crescent.
