Singapore’s GDP contracted at -13.2% yoy in Q2 2020 as the circuit breaker period affected the economy severely. Kajima will be investing $100 million in the property, which will span around 141,000 sf of (Outlying Areas) business park space and R&D lab space. Upon its completion in 2023, Kajima Global Hub will serve as the firm’s regional headquarters and conduct research and development into advanced building technologies for the construction industry. $4.27 The logistics sector continues to see expansion. German logistics firm DB Schenker recently opened its 550,000 sf warehouse at Airport Logistics Science Park Park. The firm invested $163 million in the property, which increased its number of warehouses in Singapore to 13 and its total warehouse footprint to 2.8 million sf.

Forecast Singapore’s GDP Contracts Due To Circuit Breaker Singapore’s GDP contracted at -13.2% yoy in Q2 2020 as the circuit breaker period inflicted a toll on the economy. However, the decline was mostly $20.36B due to the transportation & storage and accommodation & food services sectors. The information & communications sector was resilient, declining YTD Investment Volume (SGD) by only -0.5% yoy, while the finance & insurance sector expanded by 3.4% yoy. The government narrowed its full-year GDP growth forecast range $2,685 to between -7.0 and -5.0%. Office Capital Value (SGD/sf) Commercial REIT Activities Led to Surge in Investment Volume The Q3 2020 investment volume surged to $14.14 billion, 4.5 times that of Q2 2020’s volume of $3.15 billion. The ground breaking ceremony for the Complex was held on 28 May 2014. Worth $21.6 million, the contract will see CSC providing its geo-technical expertise for bored piling works over some 23,340 square metres of land, as well as the construction of diaphragm walls for the Complex. Situated in front of the present State Courts, the new Complex will comprise the existing Subordinate Courts along with two new 50-storey towers with three basement levels to house over 60 courtrooms and 50 hearing chambers. This is a significant increase in capacity from the 40 courtrooms and 28 hearing chambers at the current premises. As the Subordinate Courts will continue to operate throughout the construction of the new towers, CSC will be required to harness its expertise to carry out the foundation works with minimal noise and dust pollution, and minimal disruption to traffic flow. Together with the award of this contract, CSC has secured more than $100 million worth of foundation and geotechnical engineering contracts in Singapore and Malaysia since the start of 2014. In Singapore, other recent foundation contracts secured include public residential projects in Boon Lay, Punggol East, Woodlands, Guillemard Road and Tampines, and private condominiums such as Alex Residence and The Santorini.
