    October 4, 2016 Volume 6, No. 8 ABOUT OUR UNDERGRADUATE BSHSA PROGRAM Our undergraduate BSHSA program is an important part of creating a health administration “learning community” at Xavier. This means that all of our students, both graduate and undergraduate, feel that they belong to one Xavier HSA home. To accomplish this, the students are working together on various initiatives, there is some graduate faculty overlap, and our department assistants, Tina Farrell for MHSA and Judy Janzen for BSHSA, coordinate a myriad of things to assure that. In this HERALD I wanted to update you about our undergraduate program. OUR UNDERGRADUATE BSHSA STUDENTS This fall, 2016, marks the sixth year for Xavier’s Undergraduate Degree in Health Services Administration. What began as a research project by MHSA students in 2009 developed into a feasible degree that was approved by the Xavier University Board of Trustees in 2011. Although the program was planned to start in the fall of 2012, the high demand by students resulted in us starting the BSHSA degree a year earlier in 2011 instead. MHSA faculty member Ms. Karen Kent served as interim director to get the program launched, and Dr. Rick Browne has been the director since 7/1/12. Below is the list of our undergraduate students. Ending July 31, 2019 Ending July 31, 2019 College Now has been doing this – clearing the path – for students for over 50 years, starting in 1967 with a small group Foundations $4,203,039 Advising and Counseling Services $7,512,452 of students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). What started as small scholarships for this group (one Corporations $2,211,369 Scholarship Awards $3,775,735 of whom, Philip Thompson, you will read more about later in this report) quickly grew into advising services for students Individuals and Organizations $416,688 Scholarship and Retention Services $1,172,417 throughout the CMSD, then the suburbs and parochial schools, followed by adult advising.

This directory is a collaborative effort of the Admission Directors from the 19 ACAD member high schools within the Diocese of Cleveland. Each Catholic high school provides an outstanding education within the context of the Catholic faith tradition. While similar, each school is different with its unique mission, curriculum and extracurricular opportunities. As you consider your options, we recommend reviewing the grid on pages 6 and 7 for an overview of each school, then directly contacting the schools for more information. We also recommend that you attend Open Houses and other programs offered by the individual schools. The timeline below outlines important dates that apply to eighth graders enrolled in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Cleveland. Students not enrolled in a Catholic school should contact the high school(s) in which they are interested to learn about specific deadlines and admissions procedures/requirements.
