IL MOSTRO DI ST. PAULI Di Fatih Akin
! IL MOSTRO DI ST. PAULI di Fatih Akin con Jonas Dassler Margarethe Tiesel Hark ARK Bohm Basato sul romanzo “Der goldene Handschuh” di Heinz Strunk uscita: 29 agosto 2019 durata: 115 minuti ! Ufficio stampa Federica Scarnati [email protected] Tel.

Diane Kruger a Film by Fatih Akin
DIANE KRUGER A FILM BY FATIH AKIN Out of nowhere, Katja’s life falls apart when her husband Nuri and little son Rocco are killed in a bomb attack. Her friends and family try to give her the support she needs, and Katja somehow manages to make it through the funeral. But the mind-numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja‘s painful mourning, opening wounds and doubts. Danilo, a lawyer and Nuri’s best friend, represents Katja in the eventual trial against the two suspects: a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene. The trial pushes Katja to the edge, but there’s simply no alternative for her: she wants justice. Diane Kruger was born in Germany. She trained with the Royal Ballet from an early age, but an injury ended her dance career. She went on to enjoy great success as one of Paris’ best-known models. She also took acting lessons at the Cours Florent, where she received the “Classe Libre” award as the best actress in her year. Kruger made her screen debut in 2002, appearing opposite Dennis Hopper and Christopher Lambert in the independent film The Piano Player. She was nominated for a César for her role in the award-winning French film Mon Idole (Whatever You Say). In 2003, she appeared in the French feature film Michel Vaillant. Numer- ous studies are prone to methodological ethnicization, constructing strong collec- tive boundaries and implying homogenous collective identities embraced by ‘migrant communities’. Migrants are usually perceived – if not from the systemic vantage point of ‘societies of arrival’ – then from meso-perspectives, inquiring into collective dynamics while taking ‘ethno-national’ boundary-lines for granted. This working paper reverses the perspective of observation, putting individual persons in the fore- front. -

The Golden Glove
presents THE GOLDEN GLOVE A FILM BY FATIH AKIN Starring Jonas Dassler PRESS NOTES OFFICIAL SELECTION Berlin Film Festival Country of Origin: Germany Format: DCP/1.85/Color Sound: Dolby Atmos Running Time: 110 minutes Genre: Drama Not Rated In German and Greek with English Subtitles National Press Contact: Carly Hildebrant / Marcus Hu Strand Releasing Phone: 310.836.7500 [email protected] [email protected] SYNOPSIS From acclaimed filmmaker Fatih Akin (Head-On, The Edge of Heaven, In The Fade) comes a gruesome tale of notorious German serial killer Fritz Honka who haunted Hamburg’s red light district in the 1970s. Based on the novel of the same name, THE GOLDEN GLOVE follows Honka as he frequents his favorite bar, the “Golden Glove,” where schmaltzy German songs move the boozy bar hounds to tears and drinking is a reflex against pain and longing. There, Honka, a pitiful loser chasing after lonely women, keeps more than just secrets in the attic. COMMENTS OF THE DIRECTOR FATIH AKIN Fritz Honka committed his first murder before you were born. But he lived in your city and walked your streets. Was this a factor in your decision to make the film? It made the movie more personal. For me, Honka is not just some serial killer like Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs. The latter is merely a fictional character who commits murders in the USA, while Honka was a real person from my neighborhood, on which he also left his mark. I was told back in elementary school, “Watch out or a kiddy-fiddler or Honka will get you!” He was the bogeyman of my childhood. -

A FEATURE DOCUMENTARY BY FATIH AKIN presents a film by Fatih Akin Produced by corazón international in coproduction with NDR in cooperation with Dorje Film funded by Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein · Deutscher Filmförderfonds · Filmförderungsanstalt im Verleih von Pandora Film www.muellimgarteneden.de TECHNICAL DETAILS Length: 98 min Sound: Dolby Digital 5.1 Ratio: 1:1,85 5 SYNOPSIS Çamburnu is a small mountain village in northeastern Turkey. Blessed with the Black Sea’s mild and humid climate, its villagers have lived for generations off tea cultivation and fishing in harmony with the nature surrounding them. But this idyllic landscape is threatened by the government’s decision ten years ago to build a garbage landfill directly above the village. Despite protests by the mayor and the villagers, a waste disposal facility has been built that does not comply with the most essential security and building standards and since then has continued to pollute the environment through persisting accidents and dis- asters. The air is polluted, the ground water is contaminated, the annual rains flush the waste down the slopes, and flocks of birds and stray dogs have be- sieged the village. The tea growers, whose plantations lie beneath the landfill, have lost their livelihood. The consequences are devastating and clearly evident for everyone to see and yet tons of waste continues to be dumped in the landfill every day. In 2006 award-winning filmmaker Fatih Akin (Head-On, Crossing the Bridge – The Sound of Istanbul) went to Çamburnu, his grandparent’s home village, for the first time to shoot the finale of his film The Edge of Heaven. -

Three Masters, One Passion
Three masters, one passion Three great figures of international cinema to give masterclasses within the 15th edition of the Marrakech International Film festival. Abbas Kiarostami is one of the undisputed masters of iranian cinema and a worldly rekonwn author. He was rewarded in the biggest festivals : Golden Palm at Cannes Festival for Taste of Cherry ; Special Jury Prize in Venice for Le vent nous emportera... A great friend of Marrakech, he was honored by the festival in 2005, animating the same time a workshop for young moroccan filmmakers. In 2009 , he chaired the jury of the ninth edition . Today, he returnes to Marrakech to talk about his conception of cinema declined through a universal work that mixes subtle poetry, strength and fragility . Park Chan-wook , a South Korean director and writer, will be in Marrakech for a tribute but also to intervene in a masterclass . He is the author of a strong work rewarded worldwide , as it was the case in Cannes where it won the Grand Prix in 2004 and the Jury Prize in 2009. His work tells with elegance and emotion the cruelty and the complexity of human relationships. His movie Stoker (2013) , his first film in Hollywood, is a illustration through which he revisited Hitchcock in his way. Another masterclass will be given by Fatih Akin, the German director of Turkish origin and a genuine star of german cinema. Born and raised in the working class suburb of Hamburg, Akin first dreamed of being an actor in a Bruce Lee style before moving behind the camera making films that attracted attention quickly. -
