13 29 Nov Advent Sunday The year turns, and we find ourselves again at the start of the Church Year, looking back in gratitude, for God has held us through turbulent times; looking ahead in hope, knowing that our weakness, our vulnerability and our not-knowing are the very doorways through which grace comes. Lord, in your mercy, help us to trust you, bewildered and uncertain though we be; help us to listen, knowing that you still have much to say to us; help us to walk forward, believing that you go with us; help us to journey together, caring for each other and for your world. (Prayer Request written by Lyndall Bywater - Changing Lives Prayer Network Co- ordinator) Anglican Communion: Pray for the Lusitanian Church (Extra-Provincial to the Archbishop of Canterbury) The Rt Revd Jorge Pina Cabral - Bishop of the Lusitanian Church 30 Nov Praying for the Winter Shelter Give thanks for those winter shelters which are able to operate this year despite the pandemic. Pray that resources will be provided, particularly with the extra Covid protocols which need to be met, and that the guests will gain self-respect and be productive. Pray that all involved will be safe from Covid and other harm. Where shelters no longer operate within church buildings, pray that churches will still want to be involved, to ensure a powerful witness to the guests. Pray That guests will come to faith and find a family within the church. Pray that communities will see the shelter as an expression of our love to God and the difference He is making in our lives. That with the very intense pressure we face, we never lose sight of why we are doing this - to show those sleeping on our streets that they are deeply valued. 15 Leading Intercessions with Lyndall Bywater & Primrose Northrop 21 November, 10-11:30am An inspiring, informative, interactive training session for anyone leading Intercessions in church services (or interested in doing so). We’ll think about what intercessory prayer is and we’ll talk together about preparing Intercessions for a service or other time of gathered worship. How do you decide what to pray for? How do you structure your prayers? And what are some of the practical things to bear in mind, especially now that we’re often praying together online. No experience of leading Intercessions is necessary, and you won’t have to lead any prayers in the session itself unless you want to. The session will be held on Zoom. It is free of charge and will last 90 minutes. Book here: http://ow.ly/Pnkh50BYrIJ Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]
