Les structures dédiées à l’élevage et à la compétition n’ont cessé de progresser au fil des années et les Aga Khan Studs proposent aujourd’hui des étalons qui figurent parmi les meilleurs au monde, des lignées maternelles exceptionnelles et des chevaux de courses compétitifs au plus haut niveau qui ont accumulé plus de 150 victoires de Groupe 1. Les étalons phares des Aga Khan Studs, Sea The Stars et Siyouni, ont connu de nouveaux succès classiques en 2019. Le pensionnaire de Gilltown Stud Sea The Stars a ainsi vu Star Catcher lui offrir une seconde victoire consécutive dans les Oaks Irlandaises, lauréate aussi plus tard dans la saison du Prix Vermeille et des British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes. Crystal Ocean partage avec Enable et Walgeist les honneurs de la place de meilleur cheval du monde aux Classements Internationaux Longines, et Stradivarius a signé une nouvelle fantastique saison qui l’a amené au score de dix victoires consécutives. Pat Downes Le résident du Haras de Bonneval Siyouni a à nouveau été couronné étalon leader en France. Son fils Sottsass, Manager des haras irlandais vainqueur du Prix du Jockey Club et troisième du Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, fut son meilleur représentant alors que sa fille Laurens, la lauréate du Prix de Diane 2018, a ajouté cette année un sixième Groupe 1 à son palmarès dans le Prix Rothschild en août à Deauville. Dans les salles des ventes de toute l’Europe, les deux étalons ont également connu de belles réussites, avec notamment un nouveau record pour Siyouni qui a vu l’un de ses yearlings adjugé pour 1,3 million de guinées à Tattersalls. Les premiers yearlings du double vainqueur de Derby Harzand (Sea The Stars) et du très bien né Dariyan (Shamardal) ont été bien accueillis aux ventes et leurs débuts en piste en 2020 seront très attendus. Enfin, Zarak, le lauréat de Groupe 1 issu du croisement de Dubawi et Zarkava, est la dernière recrue en date des Aga Khan Studs et il aura pour mission d’assurer la continuité de cette magnifique souche. Ce descendant de la lignée maternelle de Petite Étoile et Mumtaz Mahal verra ses premiers yearlings arriver sur la scène en 2020.
