North Tyneside Unclassified Roads – Published March 2017 The list has been prepared using the available information from records compiled by the North Tyneside Council and is correct to the best of our knowledge. It does not, however, constitute a definitive statement as to the status of any particular highway. This is not a comprehensive list of the entire highway network in North Tyneside although the majority of streets are included for information purposes. The extent of the highway maintainable at public expense is not available on the list and can only be determined through the search process. The List of Streets is a live record and is constantly being amended and updated. We update and republish it every three months. The list does not contain Recorded Public Rights of Way, nor does it contain streets that are privately maintained. The list is property of North Tyneside Council and is only available to the public for viewing purposes and must not be copied or distributed. • Northeast England – a History of Flash Flooding
Northeast England – A history of flash flooding Introduction The main outcome of this review is a description of the extent of flooding during the major flash floods that have occurred over the period from the mid seventeenth century mainly from intense rainfall (many major storms with high totals but prolonged rainfall or thaw of melting snow have been omitted). This is presented as a flood chronicle with a summary description of each event. Sources of Information Descriptive information is contained in newspaper reports, diaries and further back in time, from Quarter Sessions bridge accounts and ecclesiastical records. The initial source for this study has been from Land of Singing Waters –Rivers and Great floods of Northumbria by the author of this chronology. This is supplemented by material from a card index set up during the research for Land of Singing Waters but which was not used in the book. The information in this book has in turn been taken from a variety of sources including newspaper accounts. A further search through newspaper records has been carried out using the British Newspaper Archive. This is a searchable archive with respect to key words where all occurrences of these words can be viewed. The search can be restricted by newspaper, by county, by region or for the whole of the UK. The search can also be restricted by decade, year and month. The full newspaper archive for northeast England has been searched year by year for occurrences of the words ‘flood’ and ‘thunder’. It was considered that occurrences of these words would identify any floods which might result from heavy rainfall.

Introduction 1.1 Background One of the Sure Start SDA targets states that all programmes must demonstrate: An increase in the proportion of families with young children reporting personal evidence of an improvement in the quality of family support services Accordingly during September 2003 the local evaluator sought to identify the level of satisfaction with family support services (not just those provided by Sure Start) amongst parents and carers of children aged 4 and under (registered and unregistered) living in the Sure Start Shiremoor and Killingworth programme area. 1.2 Methods Following discussion with the evaluation steering group about a range of possible approaches, a self-completion questionnaire (see appendix) based on user satisfaction surveys used by both recent MORI and Sure Start Wallsend was selected. This was then adapted following consultation with the programme team and piloting with a group of six parents.

  • 51A, 59/359 & W3
Consultation on planned changes to Nexus bus services in North Tyneside [51A, 59/359 & W3] February 2019 Introduction The current Nexus funded services 59/359 were introduced in March 2014. Service 59 provides commuter links at peak times between Backworth and Whitley Bay via Moorside, Northumberland Park Interchange, Shiremoor, Murton Village and North Tyneside Hospital. Between peak times, the bus is used to provide service 359 – which gives hourly links between Backworth and Marden Estate via Moorside, Northumberland Park Interchange, West Allotment, Murton Village, North Tyneside Hospital and Morrisons at Preston Grange. The main reason for introducing the 359 was to provide direct daytime links between West Allotment/Marden Estate and North Tyneside Hospital, to satisfy requests made to us. Services 59/359 carry on average 360 passengers per week (split 23 boardings per day on the 59 and 37 per day on the 359). The services run Monday – Saturday daytime between 07.30am – 6.30pm. The average number of passengers per hour is 5.5 and subsidy per passenger is estimated at £4.52 (which exceeds our £3 threshold used to determine the value for money being provided for all of our services). The current contract to operate the service is held by Central Taxis of Gateshead and is due to end in early September 2019. Why are we considering changes to these services? We regularly review all secured services to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of the local community and provide good value for money for the local taxpayer. A recent review of the 59/359 contract has identified that the current level of patronage is not sustainable and we consider that the resource could be better deployed.
