Challenge
Passengers arriving at Sharjah International Airport arrivals terminal would go through immigration control to pick up their luggage from the baggage carousel. They then proceeded toward the customs section where luggage would be screened for standard security checks. If suspicious luggage items were detected, passengers were asked to open their bags for a thorough search. Though a necessary process, security screening was an inconvenience for passengers. Sharjah airport deployed a EAS based suspect baggage system and system failed miserably with the limitations in the technology. This made the airport custom inspectors go back to traditional methods of scanning each bag at the exit gate.
