Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 48106-1346 F 7377 POLITI 58^S8i ABSTRACT The British left has confronted a dilemma in forming its attitude towards Israel in the postwar period. The establishment of the Jewish state seemed to force people on the left to choose between competing nationalisms - Israeli, Arab and later, Palestinian. Over time, a number of key developments sharpened the dilemma. My central focus is the evolution of thinking about Israel and the Middle East in the British Labour Party. I examine four critical periods: the creation of Israel in 1948; the Suez war in 1956; the Arab-Israeli war of 1967 and the 1980s, covering mainly the Israeli invasion of Lebanon but also the intifada. In each case, entrenched attitudes were called into question and longer-term shifts were triggered in the aftermath.

As well as a lot of awful footballer autobiographies. In this crowded market it’s important to try to make your book leap from the crowd like Sergio Ramos at a corner and demand attention. A catchy, interesting title can help significantly with that. On the other hand, if you’re a footballer, you’re already instantly recognisable to anybody who might buy and read it anyway, and you have access to a loyal fanbase that consistently proves itself willing to part with hard-earned money for any old rubbish they are served up (bad performances, third kits, club shop tat etc.), so why bother? And not bothering is very much the watchword for many players who clearly think that a nice snap and a simple title will do. Hence the plethora of ‘My Story’, ‘My Life in Football’ or ‘My Autobiography’ efforts clogging up the shelves. Surely we can do better than that? We’re not saying everyone needs to call their book Snod This for a Laugh,1 but come on.

    Fichas de la liga 96-97 Mundicromo, 1996 Colección de la temporada 1996-97 en el típico formato de fichas de Mundicromo, numeradas, con la fotografía del jugador por delante y otra imagen del jugador y sus datos profesionales por detrás. El tamaño de cada ficha es de 6’2 x 9 cms. Los cromos se guardan en un álbum- archivador con hojas de plástico con 9 huecos cada hoja para colocar otras tantas fichas. El tamaño del archivador es 25 x 31’5. La colección consta de 834 fichas numeradas del 1 al 570, siendo del 451 al 570 equipos y jugadores de Segunda División. Las fichas de jugadores de Segunda División tienen la característica de llevar un jugador por cada cara de la ficha, numerándose como "A" y "B" En las fichas de Primera División algunos números se repiten e incluso se triplican debido a que existen los denominados Ultima Hora (UH) que suelen ocupar el mismo número de un jugador que ha causado baja o simplemente se podía elegir entre uno u otro para colocar en el fichero. Los cromos de Última Hora (UH) iban saliendo al mercado a medida que avanzaba la temporada, de manera que existen los denominados UH-I (incorporados a la colección desde 1-9-96 al 31-10-96), UH-II (desde 1-11- 96 a 22-12-96) y UH-3.
