Each season the number of girls and women playing our great game increases and in welcoming Tasmania to their first Championships, it is tremendous that AFL has progressed to herald the first truly ‘National’ Women’s Championship. These championships provide an excellent opportunity to launch the AFL’s Women’s Week, instigated to recognise the contribution women make to football. To this end, the National Championships highlights the passion women have for playing the game that compliments the support they have for the game in general.
