Publicado por: Juventud Rebelde Los Grandes Maestros (GM) cubanos Leinier Domínguez (2719) y Lázaro Bruzón (2673) firmaron sendas tablas este viernes durante la séptima ronda del fuerte torneo Abierto de Bakú, Azerbaiján. Pero Bruzón tuvo más mérito porque aguantó con negras frente al GM ruso Evgeny Romanov (2624), quien marcha en el segundo puesto y ha jugado un excelente torneo. La partida terminó en 39 movimientos de una apertura Inglesa. Mientras, Leinier no pudo vencer con blancas al GM georgiano Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2618), un rival de menor categoría. Fue un duelo aburrido —32 jugadas de una defensa Caro Kann—, donde el cubano no arriesgó casi nada. En general, casi todos los favoritos negociaron la división del punto. La excepción fue el ídolo local Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2765), número uno en el ranking del evento, quien superó a su compatriota Logman Guliev (2399), un combativo Maestro Internacional que pagó los platos rotos. La sorpresa del día estuvo a cargo del GM local Sarhan Guliev (2500), quien batió con negras al GM búlgaro Iván Cheparinov (2669). En otro resultado interesante, el GM ruso Evgeniy Najer (2643) superó con blancas al GM de casa Rauf Mamedov (2679). Por su parte, el GM bielorruso Sergei Zhigalko (2689) demostró solidez al igualar su partida con negras frente al GM ruso Alekxey Dreev (2711). Así, Zhigalko conservó la cima con seis unidades, seguido a medio paso por Romanov. En la tercera posición marchan siete hombres con cinco puntos, entre los cuales aparecen Bruzón, Dreev, Mamedyarov y Najer. Los restantes inquilinos del tercer piso son el GM ruso Dmitry Andreikin (2696), el GM israelí Emil Sutovski (2700) y el propio Sarhan Guliev tras su éxito sobre Cheparinov. Después viene una docena de jugadores con 4,5 puntos, donde se ubica Leinier. Junto a él aparecen otros dos favoritos como el español Francisco Vallejo (2724) y el israelí Ilia Smirin (2676). Pero ninguno de ellos puede soñar ya con ganar el torneo. Este sábado, durante la octava ronda, Bruzón tendrá un hueso durísimo de roer, pues se medirá con Sutovski. Mientras, Leinier irá más cómodo frente al GM local Farid Abbasov (2529), aunque el güinero irá con piezas negras. En esta penúltima fecha puede haber cambios en la cima si el bielorruso Zhigalko no toca la flauta frente a Mamedyarov. As on 2020 we are celebrating the 39th anniversary of our Club I can promise some extra-ordinary events in close cooperation with FIDE, the Asian Chess Federation and the Arab Chess Federation for the coming year 2021, which will mark our 40th anniversary! NL AUGUST 2015 EUROPEAN CHESS UNION ECU PRESIDENT AT EUROPEAN EUROPEAN AZMAIPARASHVILI VIENNA OPEN 2015 AMATEUR UNION YOUTH IN RIGA CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 2015 EUROPEAN CHESS UNION NEWSLETTER European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2015 The 15th European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship was opened in the splendid hall of Master Centre of the Novi Sad Fair, in Novi Sad/Serbia. This festival-like championship consisted of five competitions, and attracted numerous young chess players all over Europe. Two hundred players from 23 national federations took part in the competition, in 12 different categories, Girls and Boys separately. 1 NL AUGUST 2015 EUROPEAN CHESS UNION After the introductory speech from the Chief Arbiter Petar Katanic Vujic, participants were greeted by the president of the Serbia Chess Federation Miroslav Kopanja, who eventually officially opened the competition. The Championship started with Rapid Individual competition, which was held 1-2 August. 16 best players from all 12 categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, Boys and Girls separately, played the Superfinal, and competed for the absolute best young rapid chess player in Europe. The Superfinal was played in the knock-out format, and after 8 rounds, WIM Laura Unuk (SLO 2019) and IM Benjamin Gledura (HUN 2416) became the winners of European Youth Rapid Superfinals. Superfinal Results The event continued with the European Youth Team Championship in Rapid chess, which took part 3-4 August. The Championship was held in three categories: U10, U14 and U18, and the teams were composed of 4 players: 3 boys + 1 girl. The tournament was played according to the Swiss System with time control was 10 minutes + 5 seconds per player.

DUBAI Emirate of UAE with more than thirty years of chess organizational experience. Many regional, continental and worldwide tournaments have been organized since the year 1985: The World Junior Chess Championship in Sharjah, UAE won by Max Dlugy in 1985, then the 1986 Chess Olympiad in Dubai won by USSR, the Asian Team Chess Championship won by the Philippines. Dubai hosted also the Asian Cities Championships in 1990, 1992 and 1996, the FIDE Grand Prix (Rapid, knock out) in 2002, the Arab Individual Championship in 1984, 1992 and 2004, and the World Blitz & Rapid Chess Championship 2014. Dubai Chess & Culture Club is established in 1979, as a member of the UAE Chess Federation and was proclaimed on 3/7/1981 by the Higher Council for Sports & Youth. It was first located in its previous premises in Deira–Dubai as a temporarily location for the new building to be over. Since its launching, the Dubai Chess & Culture Club has played a leading role in the chess activity in UAE, achieving for the country many successes on the international, continental and Arab levels. The Club has also played an imminent role through its administrative members who contributed in promoting chess and leading the chess activity along with their chess colleagues throughout UAE. “Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup” The Dubai Open championship, the SHEIKH RASHID BIN HAMDAN BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM CUP, the strongest tournament in Arabic countries for many years, has been organized annually as an Open Festival since 1999, it attracts every year over 200 participants. Among the winners are Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (in the edition when Magnus Carlsen made his third and final GM norm at the Dubai Open of 2004), Wang Hao, Wesley So, or Gawain Jones.

Russian GM Evgeny Najer won the European Individual Chess Championship 2015, which was held in Jerusalem/Israel from 23 February to 8 March, 2015. Speeches were made by President of the ECU, GM Zurab Azmaiparashvili (himself a former European champion) and ACP (Association of chess professionals) president GM Emil Sutovsky who both praised the superb organization of the event expressing their hope for more such major tournaments in Israel soon enough. Together with Moshe Slav chairman of the Israel chess federation and Amiram Kaplan, chairman of the organizing committee and secretary of the ECU Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou awarded the 120.000 Euros prize-fund and the huge trophies.
