This free two-day workshop, arranged jointly by The University of Auckland and Lancaster University, offers a series of sessions on topics in corpus linguistics and the application of corpus techniques in discourse studies and research on second language acquisition. We welcome everyone who wants to learn more about this versatile methodology for language analysis; no specialised knowledge about language corpora is required, but basic familiarity with the use of computers is presupposed. The workshop offers a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions in which the participants will learn to apply corpus techniques in a number of contexts. Registration in advance is required, as places are limited. Workshop venue The workshop will be held at 12 Grafton Road, Auckland which is reasonably close to the downtown area and since Auckland is quite small and any hotel within the CBD (Central Business District) will be suitable as long as you don't mind walking up a steep hill.
