Chrysalis is an interesting curriculum followed by the students of our school from kindergarten to Grade V. The students from classes VI - VIII follow the Xseed curriculum, an innovative pedagogy designed to raise the level of learning in classrooms and build confidence in children. Students learn Second Language from UKG. They can choose either Hindi or Tamil as their second language till class V. From class VI they also have the option of French. Students from class I – VIII have third language as part of their curriculum.

Early reading includes the direct teaching of words and sounds. This has enabled students to distinguish between different sounds of oral language for the purposes of achieving understanding. They have also helped students gain knowledge about sound-symbol relationships and concepts of print because these are the basis for decoding and reading comprehension skills. Children of the primary classes are taught to read sight words from flash cards, which are shown frequently and to frame simple sentences using sight words. This method not only enhances the child’s learning process but also builds a healthy rapport between the teacher and student.

Interactive Learning: Students at Alpha enjoy the teaching learning process through the interactive method of learning. They are encouraged to be inquisitive and ample opportunities constantly come their way to bring out the same creatively. Brainstorming sessions in the classrooms pave a great way to get the creative juices flowing. When multiple brains focus on one single idea, it results with numerous ideas and will also involve everyone into the discussion. These sessions are also a great platform for students to voice their thoughts without having to worry about right or wrong, and this is also an alternative method of testing the child’s understanding. The chalk and talk method is largely reduced and replaced by smarter learning methods through smart boards ,Internet and a well stocked library.

ASSESSMENT: CBSE is known for its comprehensive syllabus and well structured exam pattern which helps students to get a detailed idea about the entire curriculum. CBSE, has brought in the ‘uniform system of assessment and examination, as a move to standardize teaching and evaluation around schools affiliated to it. From class VI onwards, students would be assessed as per this template prescribed by the Board. Uniform assessment is a two-semester scheme, at the end of which Half-Yearly and Yearly examination will be held.

Alpha paves the way for them to prove their proficiency by encouraging them to take up the Cambridge English YLE tests for students from Grades III – V upwards. The exams are conducted at three different levels for the students such as starters, movers and flyers. CLUB ACTIVITIES: An Alphian is called to be an all rounder and hence every possible learning is provided here. Spice Club: Cooking is a passion and no matter how good a chef you are, the joy is in cooking for others – the students of the Spice Club get this privilege as they experiment their culinary skills in the Spice Club.
