  • South Jordan Moderate Income Housing Plan
City of South Jordan South Jordan Moderate Income Housing Plan Zions Public Finance, Inc. October 2019 South Jordan Moderate Income Housing Plan October 2019 Housing Market Overview Housing growth and affordability has been capturing headlines across the country. The demand for new housing units is especially strong in Utah where the population is projected to double in the next 25-30 years. The State’s economy is strong, having added nearly 375,000 new jobs in the past 10 years. In comparison, Wyoming has grown by 7,800 jobs, while Idaho has added 140,000 new jobs.1 Salt Lake County (the County) is projected to grow by 6,079 new households per year, placing a significant demand on housing stock. Further, Utah’s households are unique. The State has the lowest median age in the nation and the highest median household size, which influences the type of housing product that the State needs. While incomes in Utah are the second-fastest growing in the nation, Utah’s inflation rate is near an all- time high at 3.9 percent. Nationally, the average is only 1.6 percent. Transportation costs are a critical factor when evaluating housing affordability. In the County annual transportation costs are $13,999, representing 23.0 percent of average incomes.2 Costs are probably slightly higher in South Jordan where the daily average commute time is slightly higher than the County average. Although housing affordability is a concern in Utah, home prices along the Wasatch Front are still substantially more affordable than in other economic centers in the West.

  • SYNAXARION, COPTO-ARABIC, List of Saints Used in the Coptic Church
(CE:2171b-2190a) SYNAXARION, COPTO-ARABIC, list of saints used in the Coptic church. [This entry consists of two articles, Editions of the Synaxarion and The List of Saints.] Editions of the Synaxarion This book, which has become a liturgical book, is very important for the history of the Coptic church. It appears in two forms: the recension from Lower Egypt, which is the quasi-official book of the Coptic church from Alexandria to Aswan, and the recension from Upper Egypt. Egypt has long preserved this separation into two Egypts, Upper and Lower, and this division was translated into daily life through different usages, and in particular through different religious books. This book is the result of various endeavors, of which the Synaxarion itself speaks, for it mentions different usages here or there. It poses several questions that we cannot answer with any certainty: Who compiled the Synaxarion, and who was the first to take the initiative? Who made the final revision, and where was it done? It seems evident that the intention was to compile this book for the Coptic church in imitation of the Greek list of saints, and that the author or authors drew their inspiration from that work, for several notices are obviously taken from the Synaxarion called that of Constantinople. The reader may have recourse to several editions or translations, each of which has its advantages and its disadvantages. Let us take them in chronological order. The oldest translation (German) is that of the great German Arabist F. Wüstenfeld, who produced the edition with a German translation of part of al-Maqrizi's Khitat, concerning the Coptic church, under the title Macrizi's Geschichte der Copten (Göttingen, 1845).

  • The Passion of St. George Translated by E
The Passion of St. George Translated by E. A. W Budge Written by Abba Theodotus, Bishop of Ancyra in Glaatia in 431 AD Icon: 14th century ~ From the Maniokhin Church in Paskhov District., Russia. The Encomium which the blessed Abba Theodotus, Bishop of Ancyra in Galatia, pronounced on the day of the glorious commemoration - which is the twenty-third of the month Pharmuthi - of Saint George, the martyr of Diospolis of [p. 275] Palestine, the sun of the truth, the star of the morning, the mighty man of the Galileans from Melitene and the valiant soldier of Christ; and he showed forth his family relationships and the mighty conflicts which he endured, and the honours which he received in heaven; in the peace of God, Amen. 1 It is meet and right and fitting for our souls, O holy beloved, that we should commemorate the sufferings and honourable contests of the saints, and more especially of Saint George the mighty, the most excellent and honourable athlete and warrior - whose festival we celebrate today in this glorious commemoration - who has shown himself to us approved by God and loveworthy before men, by reason of the righteous deeds which he displayed, through which he was worthy of being called into the healthful sufferings of Christ and of bearing wounds in his body for Christ's sake. He was perfect in great endurance, and mighty valor, and a pure heart, and in giving up his entire will to God through the great zeal which he had in his heart towards God, and in the fear of Him which he had within him, which bore fruit plentifully to Him a hundredfold, sixtyfold, and thirtyfold.

  • Saint George the Great Martyr Eastern, Orthodox Church Hesperia
08/15/2021 Saint George The Great Martyr Eastern, Orthodox Church Hesperia CA.92345 TEL:760-244-9223 Dn.George: 760-792-8604 Website:WWW.STgeorgeoca.org 8th Sunday after Pentecost The Dormition of our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary in today’s Gospel reading, we learn that even the lord needed a place of solitude, a quiet place to meditate and pray. To withdraw from the world around him. We hear that the news somehow and not surprisingly got out. And a great multitude was waiting for him! The Lord seeing the multitude had compassion on them, healed them and taught them, and wanted to feed them. But his disciples still lacking in complete faith were not sure how they can provide for such a crowd (over five thousand men beside women and children). This event dear brothers and sisters is so important it is recorded in all four Gospels! And it is a sign not understood by the people! They thought he filled their belly with five loves and two fishes! But the lord referred to himself as the (bread of life, he that comes to him shall never hunger. And he that believes in him shall never thirst). Today we also celebrate the Dormition of the most Holy Theotokos and ever Virgin Mary. Judging from the reading one will draw the conclusion that it doesn’t have anything to do with her Dormition. But in fact this reading is read several times a year to celebrate the Mother of God! In Philippians we hear Saint Paul telling them and us to be obedient and humble.
