In order to claim the origins of the all mighty blaa, clans from around Waterford blaa-ttle it out. Groups of the estranged blaa-ttlers will gather. They have dropped their shields and swords and have picked up the flour and eggs for a display unseen before. The clans need YOUR help to be victorious! The blaa-ttle will be a family-friendly participatory event. A theatrical reconstruction set in a post-apocalyptic war-zone. Featuring our estranged blaa-ttlers, tonnes of flour and YOU. Booking is essential to be part of this one of a kind event. Costume is highly recommended. The event will lead with a children’s only blaa- ttle followed by live entertainment and will culminate with an adult only blaa-ttle. Born in Neptune, New Jersey, Ruckle became a full time artist in 1963 and arrived in Waterford in 1986 and choosing to make the city his permanent home for the next 32 years. During this time he not only painted some of his most important works but also interacted with the rapidly developing local art scene of the ‘80s and’90s in a number of crucial areas such as visual art, theatre, printed material, and collaborations with local artists. The exhibition Meeting Mr Ruckle will include original artworks, photographs, and a range of media to highlight his artistic impact and lasting contribution to the culture of Waterford. His latest album The Curious Hand, released on Domino Records and co-produced with Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Wild Beasts), has received rave reviews across the board with the Guardian awarding it 5/5 (a ‘stunning, mercurial album’ ) while The Irish Times, The Observer, Q Magazine and Mojo all awarded it 4 stars. Since then, Fogarty has toured extensively, playing Eurosonic, Green Man festivals among others. Imagine Arts Festival and Subterranean Sounds are proud that his new, full band European tour kicks off with us. It will feature new songs and old, and there may well be dancing!
