Before I discuss the highlights of our exciting May auction, I want to thank all of our consignors and bidders for making the fi rst three months of 2016 one of our most successful quarters ever. Auction sales in the fi rst quarter of 2016 were up 34% from the same period last year to $11,983,651. 100% of the lots offered by HDH in the fi rst quarter were sold, with prices rising signifi cantly. The HDH Index is up 13% since the fi rst quarter of 2015. We were aided by the rollout of our mobile bidding app, which is now available for both IOS and Android. Our bidding platform has made it easier than ever to place bids from anywhere in the world, and we have seen record numbers of bidders as a result. None of this could happen without our consignors, who continue to trust HDH to sell remarkable collections like the ones that follow in this catalog. Ben Nelson We are honored to welcome Ann Colgin, Joe Wender, and Paul Roberts for a very special Colgin President Cellars dinner at RPM Steak on Thursday, May 12th, to kick off the auction weekend. A special Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. consignment from the winery will follow on Saturday (lots 1763-1779) consisting of library offerings from the 1992 vintage onwards, as well as numerous rare large format bottlings. Our two-day auction will offer old- and new-world wines of incredible diversity and provenance with and estimated gross of $4-6 million dollars. We will open the sale with an Exceptional Offering Featuring a Veritable Library of Classic Bordeaux (lots 1-222). This perfectly stored collection boasts case upon case of 2009s from the region’s best estates. Following this outstanding consignment, great Bordeaux will continue to appear throughout the sale totaling an estimated $1.7-2.5 million and featuring vintages dating to as far back as 1926. An impressive 64 lots of 1982 Bordeaux will be offered including a full case of Lafi te Rothschild in OWC (lot 876, est. $22,000-32,000). California wine afi cionados will be thrilled by offerings from Screaming Eagle, Harlan, and Bryant while those seeking Burgundy will be pleased to fi nd 548 lots, which are projected to bring in nearly $1 million. Collectors will not want to miss the 8 bottle lot of 1986 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 2039, est. $26,000-38,000) along with the 58 additional lots of DRC found throughout the sale. One particularly noteworthy offering is A Collection of Fine Burgundy from Esteemed Producers (lots 223-383), with 146 Burgundy lots from DRC, Bouchard, Ponsot, Rousseau, and many others. The rarities found in this parcel were carefully purchased and stored and would be prized additions to any Burgundy collection.     Au fil des mois à Sainte-Colombe n° 24 - Janvier 2019 Le mot du Maire A tous ceux qui n’étaient pas présents à la cérémonie des vœux, nous tenons le conseil municipal et moi-même à vous présenter nos meilleurs vœux pour cette nouvelle année. Des vœux de santé, de bonheur et de réussite pour tous vos projets personnels ou professionnels. Je veux aussi formuler des vœux de paix et de réconciliation entre les peuples, afin que chacun puisse vivre sereinement. La fin d’année 2018 a été marquée par le mouvement des gilets jaunes, laissant éclater un fort mécontentement notamment sur les conditions de vie de certains de nos compatriotes en même temps qu’un rejet quasi unanime de nos gouvernants et des politiques en général. Ce conflit si juste soit-il a été entaché de violences dans les grandes villes qui ne sont pas acceptables. Ce mouvement perdure encore aujourd’hui et visiblement le débat entre le président de la république et les maires, la semaine dernière à Souillac n’a pas suffi à apaiser les tensions. Souhaitons que ce conflit finisse par trouver une issue. A ce sujet, un cahier de doléances est à disposition, à l’accueil de la mairie pour tous les citoyens afin que chacun puissent exprimer son ressenti et les revendications qu’il souhaiterait voir aboutir. Les Maires auront à charge de transmettre ces cahiers de doléances. Voilà un an que j’ai été élu Maire de la commune avec un conseil municipal légèrement remanié. Durant cette année, qu’avons-nous fait ? Comme vous l’avez certainement constaté, nous n’avons pas réalisé de grands travaux en 2018 car nous avons pris le temps de réfléchir aux priorités pour 2019(vous les découvrirez dans les pages suivantes).
