Sac High Brochure SSAACC HHIIGGHH NNEEWW SSTTUUDDEENNTT AATTHHLLEETTIICC IINNFFOORRMMAATTIIOONN PPAACCKKEETT 2315 34TH STREET SACRAMENTO Coach Reber is a Veteran Head Football Coach with a 98-27 overall record, 2017 Semi- Professional National Football League National Runner-Up, 2017 Semi-Professional National Football Hall of Fame Inductee, an eight time League Champion, and six time Conference Coach of the Year. In 2018, Coach Reber was the Offensive Coordinator at Hartnell College, where he increased scoring by 18.6 points per game and increased yards per game by 213 yards per game, from 2017. In 2018, Hartnell was 10th in the state in scoring (37.6 points per game) and 2nd in the state in total offense (506 yards per game). Coach Reber was born and raised in Sacramento where he played football at Capital Christian High School, Sacramento City College, and then received an athletic scholarship to play football at Montana State University, before spending four years in the semi-pro ranks. Coach Reber returned to Capital Christian as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach. He was the Co-Offensive Coordinator for Sacramento City College, where they were conference champions and champions of the Laney College Eagle Bowl. The offense that season averaged 41 points per game. Coach Reber was the Interim Head Coach at Capital Christian in 2010 during which he was selected as Coach of the Year by his peers. Coach Reber was a Head High School Coach for Saddleback Valley Christian, Rio Linda High School, Sacramento Charter High School, and El Dorado High School. During those seven years he compiled a 61-21 overall record, with six league championships and five “Coach of the Year” honors. At Saddleback Valley Christian, Coach Reber won three conference championships in three seasons. As the Head Coach of his high school teams, he also called the offense, and over his seven year span his offenses averaged 42 points per game. From 2016-2018, he was the Head Coach for the Capital City Fury Semi Pro Team, a spring developmental League for players out of college. In 2016, they finished top 5 nationally and in 2017, finished as the National Runner-up. Coach Reber received his Bachelor of Arts in Child Development at California State University, Sacramento, his Master’s degree in Sports Science through the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Sports Management.     Christian Brothers Baseball History 1930 - 1959 By James McNamara, Class of 1947 Joseph McNamara, Class of 1983 1 Introductory Note This is an attempt to chronicle the rich and colorful history of baseball played at Christian Brothers High School from the years 1930 to 1959. Much of the pertinent information for such an endeavor exists only in yearbooks or in scrapbooks from long ago. Baseball is a spring sport, and often yearbooks were published before the season’s completion. There are even years where yearbooks where not produced at all, as is the case for the years 1930 to 1947. Prep sports enjoyed widespread coverage in the local papers, especially during the hard years of the Great Depression and World War II. With the aid of old microfilm machines at the City Library, it was possible to resurrect some of those memorable games as told in the pages of the Sacramento Bee and Union newspapers. But perhaps the best mode of research, certainly the most enter- taining, is the actual testimony of the ballplayers themselves. Their recall of events from 50 plus years ago, even down to the most minor of details is simply astonishing. Special thanks to Kathleen Davis, Terri Barbeau, Joe Franzoia, Gil Urbano, Vince Pisani, Billy Rico, Joe Sheehan, and Frank McNamara for opening up their scrapbooks and sharing photographs. This document is by no means a complete or finished account. It is indeed a living document that requires additions, subtractions, and corrections to the ongoing narrative. Valentine agreed to terms on a two-year contract with club options for 2014 and 2015. No further terms were disclosed.
