This Bud’s for you: Milwaukee will take anything including the sleeper tag in order to avoid another 90 loss campaign 6. Milwaukee Brewers: Can Carlos Lee really help the Brewers improve dramatically upon a 67-94 finish one year ago? That’s the major question right now for the baseball team in Milwaukee, which traded base stealer extraordinare Scott Podsednik to the White Sox in exchange for Lee (.305Avg. 31HR 99RBI). He gives them the right handed power bat they’ve been lacking for a while to go sandwiched in between lefty hitters Lyle Overbay (All-Star) and veteran outfielder Geoff Jenkins. Jenkins (.851 career OPS), Lee and likely Brady Clark will compose the Brewers outfield. Behind the plate is Damian Miller, who works very well with start pitchers as he did in Arizona, Oakland and Chicago, so he will have no trouble handling Ben Sheets. Chad Moeller, an ex-teammate of Miller’s with the Diamondbacks, should spell him for about 40-50 games and be a decent backup. I question how good Clark can be in the everyday lineup, markedly as the leadoff man. Clark was decent in 2004, batting .280 and stealing 15 bases. Still, don’t see him staying there long if he’s only score 40-50 runs per season. And Clark will get the chance to touch home plate with guys like Lee, Overbay and Jenkins behind him. Russell Branyan poses a threat when on the field. Despite striking out quite often, he hit 11 dingers in 51 games. Branyan, whose 81 home runs are the most of someone with less than 1500 plate appearances, would relish the opportunity to start every day or get upwards of 250 at-bats.

Mitchell spent three seasons with the Reds, batting .332 with 50 doubles, 55 home runs and 167 RBI MLB.COM 'Breaking' news: Cingrani develops cutter Reds lefty works in offseason to add another pitch offering By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com | @m_sheldon | February 22nd, 2017 + 50 COMMENTS GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Reds left-hander Tony Cingrani can throw his four-seam fastball 95 mph, and consistent with his career, he used it often in 2016. It was so often that PITCHf/x data showed he threw his fastball more than 87 percent of the time. Cingrani started using a split-fingered fastball sometime in the second half, but he realized it was time to diversify the repertoire even more. He needed a breaking ball and used the offseason to develop a cut fastball. "It's just another way to get guys out," Cingrani said. "It gets hitters off thinking it's just going to be a fastball. I'm still trying to work on how I want that ball to move, but it's good and feels comfortable." At the suggestion of teammate and fellow reliever Caleb Cotham, Cingrani traveled to Kent, Wash., in the fall and worked out at Driveline Baseball. The facility, owned by Kyle Boddy, has gained a reputation for providing data-driven pitch training and also encourages building arm strength by playing catch with weighted balls. "Caleb is a pretty smart cat," Cingrani said.

ADULT SCHOOL Learning for Life SELF STUDY REPORT Western Association of Schools and Colleges for ABC Adult School 12254 Cuesta Drive, Cerritos, CA 90703 www.abcadultschool.edu February 6-8, 2017 Self Study Report Western Association of Schools and Colleges for ABC Adult School February 6-8, 2017 ABC Adult School 12254 Cuesta Drive Cerritos, CA 90703 www.abcadultschool.edu Preface In the six years since our last WASC report, ABC Adult School has been in a process of constant transition and renewal. With the passing of Assembly Bill (AB) 104 on July 1, 2015, the legislature provided the $500 million Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) to the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to jointly work with the California Department of Education to expand and improve the delivery of educational services to adult learners across the state through the establishment of regional consortia of educational providers. Under AB 104, ABC Adult School is a proud member of PAACE (Partnership for Adult Academic and Career Education) consortium which includes Cerritos Community College, Downey Adult School, Norwalk-La Mirada Adult School, Bellflower Adult School, and ABC Adult School. The upcoming WASC accreditation will chart a new course for ABC Adult School, as the school is implementing its 3-year PAACE consortium plan during the WASC self-study years. ABC Adult School prides itself on the rigorous, standard-based programs we offer. We continue analyzing the data, looking at ways to improve our programs, and making our best efforts in completing the rigorous WASC self-study process during these Adult Education trying times.
