New Delhi: The Union environment minister, Mr Anil Madhav Dave is no more. He passed away early this morning at New Delhi. Mr Dave who was 60 years old, was well known for his down to earth approach. He had not been keeping well for the last few months.

As per media reports, he was had complained of the chest pain and was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he breathed his last. Mr Dave as a Member of Parliament, was representing Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha since 2009. Best known as a social worker and engaged currently with the conservation of the Narmada river, Mr Dave had been a member of the Committee on Water Resources, member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. From March 2010 to June 2010, was a member of the Parliamentary Forum on Global Warming and Climate Change.

Late Mr Dave was with the PM Modi until late evening on May 17th to discuss the important policy matters. “I was with Anil Madhav Dave ji till late last evening, discussing key policy issues. This demise is a personal loss,” the PM Modi said in his tweet. “Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment,” the PM added. The prominent members of bioscience community have expressed deep shock at the news.
