Rev Mark writes….. Step inside…. I came across a story over the summer about a Canadian man who has prepared in a big way for the end of the world, by building a nuclear shelter out of 42 buried school buses. The project has spanned 50 years of his life.

Bruce Beach, 83, actually began building the 10,000 square feet shelter in the early 1980s during the height of the Cold War. He keeps the enormous shelter running with help from volunteers should the world erupt into nuclear war. "Well, I've thought for years this is it. They (world leaders) can't get any Some pictures worse than this, but they do." he told the BBC . from events run The heavily fortified network of buses, encased in concrete and buried by Eleanor over 14 feet below the ground, can accommodate as many as 500 people for the holidays up to three weeks - enough time for nuclear fallout to decay to a safe level. The bunker is powered by diesel generators, has two kitchens, full plumbing, a day room, space to store weapons, a decontamination tank, a chapel, a radio communications centre and a 5,000 gallon water tank. The kids quarters can sleep 96 children in two shifts! Bruce Beach has reportedly said everyone is welcome to shelter— regardless of race, creed or religion. However he added, "There's a big question if people in the local community will even come in and join me." …will even come in and join me…? Now there’s a question!

I don’t know if Mr Beach is a believer, but this reminds me for the most part, of the story of Noah’s Ark.

Outside the ark, men and women were struggling for their lives, all were Dungiven Parish are running a New to You stall at Vintage lost. They had had their chance but let it pass. Why not cut out the ‘take away thoughts’ below and keep them in your purse or wallet as a reminder.

Something to take away from the story of Noah’s Ark The story can be found in Genesis 6 v 1 – 11 v 32 Don’t miss the boat. Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark, you know. Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big. Don’t listen to critics, just get on with what has to be done. Build your future on high ground. Some photos of a games night When you’re stressed, try floating awhile. that was held . Remember that the ark was built by amateurs; it was the Titanic that was built by professionals. Do I need to pick up my children from Sunday School? We would encourage parents to pop in and collect their children especially the For me, at NEW WINE SLIGO this year the best talks were from Pastor Jonathan Rue from Desert Vineyard California. He expounded the book of James. Wow...was it scarey and all too practical. It’s from his talks that I was helped to understand a bit more about surrendering to God’s best plan...to be more honest with God, recognise pride which September – mid October manifests itself so secretly at times in an all or nothing approach. If it’s not perfect or whole I won’t be giving it! Pastor Jonathan suggested th Sunday 19 August – Trinity 12 instead of giving God all the bucks (proverbially speaking) its wiser to 10am Dungiven Morning Worship, get it changed at the bank into smaller coins, smaller values and make conscious choices along the day to give God it.
