Tennis World Social Competitions Information Sheet and Conditions of Play Team Management Managing your team is vital to both you and your opponent’s enjoyment. The most effective way to manage your team is to: Nominate a captain: someone who is able to organise the team if it is short on players and who is aware of all the Conditions of Play that apply. All teams can have any combination of male and female players relative to the comp grade. Ensure all team members have each other’s contact details. Have at least one reliable reserve player. Team position numbers should be chosen according to abilities. That is, position 1 should be awarded to the stronger player. All sets are played first to 6 games with no advantage, stopping for example at 6-5. A 7 point tie- breaker is played at 5-5. The winning team is the team that wins the most games. If games are tied, the team with the most sets wins the match. Late Withdrawals communicated to Tennis World (3 strikes no exceptions) At Tennis World, we pride ourselves on attendance. However, with more leagues and players than ever before, it can be extremely difficult for our staff to find players for your team at short notice. We therefore encourage your team to follow these steps. If you are unable to play for whatever reason, please do the following: Firstly try and find your own fill in replacement, preferably of a similar standard to yourself As a matter of courtesy, advise your captain of the situation and with as much notice as possible. If required, your captain will then attempt to source a player, possibly a regular reserve. If possible, Tennis World will endeavour to find a replacement player. All fill ins must be of the same grade or lower. In all situations where a player cannot play and Tennis World staff are needed to find a suitable fill in, we ask for at least 24 hours notice. If a player withdraws on the day of play and informs Tennis World, that player will be give 1 strike with a maximum of 3 for the season per player. Tennis World will then remove that player after 3 strikes from participating any further in the comps for the current season. No Show Policy (2 strikes no exceptions) If a player fails to inform or communicate to Tennis World staff and program coordinators for whatever reason 2 times during the season and therefore is a NO SHOW. Tennis World will then remove that player from participating any further in the comps for the current season. Inclement Weather To ensure that we can make the most informed decision, Tennis World will refer to the current Melbourne Park conditions as well as the latest radar images from the Bureau of Meteorology. We aim to make a final decision for each grade a minimum of 45 minutes before the scheduled start time. In the event of inclement weather and a washout, a txt message will be sent to your nominated mobile phone at the earliest convenience. Incomplete matches due to inclement weather If rain occurs during play, the following rules will apply: 1) If an outright result is achieved, points will be awarded for each set won plus the points for winning the round. If there is an incomplete set, points will be split equally between both teams for the set not completed only. 2) If no result of any set or round is achieved, all points will be split between both teams . Tennis World Social Competitions Information Sheet and Conditions of Play Refunds: Refunds for casual use/payment will be issued for the following scenarios: Half payment refunded if 1 set has been completed but 2nd set washed out or not complete. For Premier League half payment refunded if 2 sets per player have not been completed. Full payment refunded if no set has been complete or commenced. No refunds will be issued where all sets have been completed. Warm Up period To ensure all matches can completed on time warm-up periods will be 5 minutes per set. Playing with Missing Players Doubles matches will still proceed even if a team is incomplete. Teams playing with one missing player will incur a 3 game deduction for each set that player was meant to play. A Program Coordinator will provide your team with the appropriate score sheet which will outline the revised order the sets will now be played in. In the singles format, if an additional player cannot be sourced, the two singles matches will be played by the one player present; however the doubles match will be awarded 6-0 to the opponent. Tennis World will endeavor to organize a non-scoring doubles set. Injuries during a Set Please report injuries to programs coordinator as soon as possible. Coordinators will, if practical, assist with the injury and apply basic First Aid. They will also note down the circumstances of which the injury occurred and complete an incident report and advise how to make a claim for any Personal Accident Insurance (PAI). If the injured player cannot resume play, the injured players score remains and the rest of the set is awarded to the opponent. If they have any sets remaining which have not yet begun, they can be replaced and the rule for missing players will apply. Inappropriate Behavior, Rules for Non-Umpired Matches and Court Etiquette Tennis World will not accept or tolerate inappropriate behavior. This includes obscene language, abuse of opponents, deliberate incorrect line calls and any other behavior the programs coordinator deems to be inappropriate. If a player or team is found to be in breach of this condition of play, they will be asked to not participate in our competitions. Ladder and points awarded Ladder positions are determined on Points ratio, not points from wins. For example, if your team has played 6 times and has won a total of 36 points, it will have a points ratio of 6.00. Points are awarded as follows: For an overall outright win = 4 points For each winning set = 1 point For an overall draw = 2 points per team For a drawn or incomplete set = 0.5 points per team BYE = 0 points Finals Tennis World Social Competitions Information Sheet and Finals will be determined by position on the ladder after the final round.
