From the complex, to the gardens, to the winery, to the shopping and outdoor activities there is plenty to see at the Estate and is said to take up a long portion of your day, so plan accordingly. Basilica of Saint Lawrence: is a Roman Catholic Church, a minor basilica thanks to the upgraded status from Pope John Paul II, it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 97 Haywood Street. North Carolina Arboretum: is a great place to walk, bike and educate, the location is full of gardens, national parks with great views and educational sites. There are activities for both younger and older children. Located at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way. Asheville Zipline Canopy Adventures: is a 124 acre zipline course that takes you into 150 year old trees that overlook historic downtown and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The experience takes around 2-3 hours long so plan accordingly.

There will be three events in September; one focused on the processes and procedures for monitoring weather and climate from the perspective of NCEI.     RESOLUTION #03-17 STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA ) RESOLUTION HONORING ) CARL EDWARDS, JR. COUNTY OF NEWBERRY ) WHEREAS, Carl “C.J.” Edwards, Jr., was born in Newberry in 1991, and is a lifelong resident of Prosperity and a graduate of Mid-Carolina High School; and WHEREAS, C.J was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 45th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft; and WHEREAS, he subsequently played minor league professional baseball with various clubs, including the Spokane Indians, Arizona League Rangers, Hickory Crawdads, Tennessee Smokies, and Daytona and Iowa Cubs, and was named Minor League Baseball Pitcher of the Year for the 2013 season; and WHEREAS, on September 7, 2015, C.J. made his Major League debut against the St. Louis Cardinals, and on September 1, 2016 earned his first save against the San Francisco Giants; and WHEREAS, C.J. played in three World Series games with the Cubs in October 2016 and recorded the first two outs in the 10th inning of the series-clinching victory for the Cubs’ first World Series win in 108 years. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT NEWBERRY COUNTY COUNCIL HEREBY RECOGNIZES CARL “C.J.” EDWARDS, JR., FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHEIVEMENTS IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, AND FOR BEING A POSITIVE REFLECTION ON THE COUNTY OF NEWBERRY.
