VVD initiated microfinance activities under the banner “ Poor Women Talent Search Credit Program” in the year 2007 as one of its major thematic program. The microfinance operation of VVD does not have a separate institutional form, however, with the microfinance program instituted an autonomous management having professional members on finance. It has a dedicated staff members and separate administration respectively. Also, the microfinance program known as VVD-MF maintains separate accounts and financial reporting for its program reflecting clarity in program focus and its further development. In 2013 both VVD & VVD-MF board felt the need for separation taking into account the ground situation and experts’ advice to address the growing demand of credit in the rural areas. The senior management team along with some of the board members had a series of consultation with the then Microsave, who was the capacity building consultant of VVD(MF) at that point of time and Chartered Accountant for choosing the right path. Having indepth consultation on the operational nature of the organisation and the geographical coverage, finally decided to go with Indian Trust Act registration and to further only think to spin off to NBFC-MFI after reaching 15 crores plus portfolio The Executive committee of VVD & VVD-MF made a resolution for separate registration. Accordingly an application to the Sub-registrar for registration in the name of SEAT was made. The trust deed was signed by both Executive committee of VVD & Board of Trustees in the presence of the Sub- Registrar on 11th Aug.2015. Since then SEAT have been preparing and obtaining the necessary and legal related documents for accepting the Assets & liabilities transfers from VVD-MF progrsm and in want of all those legal related documents couldn’t fully function as NGO-MFI 2 3 | P a g e Vision & Mission The mission statement has been defined as: “To provide financial and related capacitating services for enhancing livelihood of the underserved community (especially women) of hills and valley of Manipur” The vision statement has been defined as: “To become a sustainable MFI providing microfinance services in an integrated manner” Registration status: 1. Financial services: Micro Credit-We Provide Micro Credit services to women’s SHG and semi skill entrepreneur to start up their business and for other income generating activities without any collateral security. Saving-It is our basic responsibility to inculcate the habit of saving money within the SHG and encouraging them for inter loan in groups and build up their corpus fund. Operating bank account-We provide helping hand to these poor rural women in opening bank accounts, RD,Fixed deposit, orientation on banking services and access to banking loan like,KCC,SHG Loan & Mudra Loan. Insurance linkage-We provide insurance linkage to all of our women clients. Capacitating services: Financial Literacy Campaign-We give financial campaign on the importance of financial literacy. Book keeping & Record Keeping- We organize training on books of accounts so that all of our women clients are aware of the basic knowledge of maintaining books of accounts. Accounting-. Most of our women client members are minimally educated or illiterate. We take it as our mission to educate them on how to maintain books of account like vouchers Cash book, & ledgers, etc. Household Management Campaign-We educate all of our women clients about the importance of having family budget and financial planning for addressing various household needs. Group Management Training- Training are organized at SHG levels on SHG management, characteristics, inter loaning among the group members, building group fund and maintenance of accounts at group level. Leadership Training- Leadership training is imparted so that group members are well aware of their responsibility and work together as team rather than as an individual. Animal Husbandry Training- We educate our clients on how to rear their livestock’s and generate additional source of income to enhance their livelihood. Business Management Training- Business management training is imparted to our women client entrepreneurs so that they have the right business ethics, skills and knowledge on how to go about their business generating income and self sustainability. Clean energy initiative– Woodstove-We have introduced Smokeless stove under Clean Energy campaign as an alternative arrangement to replace the traditional Chulha for cooking by educating women about the major health hazard caused by smoke emitting out of using hearth and firewood while cooking. Solar energy-Poor outreach of electricity and other mediums of lighting hinder development process affecting livelihood activities. Keeping the pretext in view, we have been promoting the use of solar lighting systems in villages and rural areas. Clean Water Initiative-We sensitize the local people by organizing program about the importance of Safe Drinking water and how contaminated water leads to many water borne diseases. 4 5 | P a g e SEAT organized training on book keeping to some of the SHGs members to make aware of the basic book of accounts maintained at the SHG level like cash book, ledger, saving, minutes, loan book etc. which serve as the only written proof of all financial transaction, resolution and agenda, and other important documents for further review. These book keeping trainings were arranged To enhance Accounting and Book Keeping Skills To enhance shared understandings on the operation and management of SHGs So that every participants are enriched with more knowledge and to ensure proper functioning and compliance with the prescribed processes and established systems. All members of Ukhrul SHG who hold the records and suitable person to precede the documentation in the next future is obliged to attend the meeting, around 60 members attend in every training conducted. Benefits of record keeping were taught along with practical to work out their understanding and follow the same in their meeting. Book keeping Training on April ’18 at SEAT Book keeping at Ramva community Hall office on March’19 Book keeping training at Ngainga Village on Sept’18 Book keeping at Talla village on Feb’19 5 6 | P a g e Food processing is very much important as reduce the intensive work in cultivation of paddy and adding more values when crops are processed. Various food processing was imparted viz. Candy (Gooseberry, Tamarind, Vegetable), Chocolate and Species candy, Rice flakes, pickles of various Vegetables etc. Resources are plenty but ignorant of adding value of it and generate livelihood through it which will be more organic in consumption as well as adds their income. Trainer impart ideas on skills and designs of cakes, Doughnuts, Buns , cookies etc for different occasions and customers in unique way with different flavour were taught, so as to able to compete with the existing market and to attract customers in a unique way which directly helps to generate income and service to the community as a whole. Moreover, baking various items without adding of chemical and substitution of yeast and other colour by natural resource ideas were taught. It is important to know about processing from the organic product which they produce, instead of solely depending on cultivating raw. Food processing also keeps them an income to enhance their livelihood so the participants expressed heartfelt gratitude for organizing which enhance their skill and knowledge on various seasonal fruits and vegetables utilization without wasting it.
