VVD initiated microfinance activities under the banner “ Poor Women Talent Search Credit Program” in the year 2007 as one of its major thematic program. The microfinance operation of VVD does not have a separate institutional form, however, with the microfinance program instituted an autonomous management having professional members on finance. It has a dedicated staff members and separate administration respectively. Also, the microfinance program known as VVD-MF maintains separate accounts and financial reporting for its program reflecting clarity in program focus and its further development. In 2013 both VVD & VVD-MF board felt the need for separation taking into account the ground situation and experts’ advice to address the growing demand of credit in the rural areas. The senior management team along with some of the board members had a series of consultation with the then Microsave, who was the capacity building consultant of VVD(MF) at that point of time and Chartered Accountant for choosing the right path.
