The foremost priority in this hour of crisis is to provide a holistic approach to health and well-being of our students, by keeping a healthy balance of mind and body. Yoga, being a catalyst to mental well-being embodies the unity of mind and body. Yoga also provides tools for practicing compassion, mindfulness, generosity, focus, strength, and flexibility. Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day. International Day of Yoga – 2021 was celebrated through Online and Virtual mode with the students, teachers and their family members in strict accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol, promoted by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. Online Yoga sessions with Asanas and ‘Yoga exercise Protocol’ was conducted on 18.6.2021, 19.6.2021 & 20.6.2021 from 8.00 a.m. to 09.15 a.m. and on 21.6.2021 ‘‘Common Yoga Protocol’’ session was conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. 18.06.2021 Online Yoga sessions with Asanas and ‘Yoga exercise Protocol’ was conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 09.15 a.m. 19.06.2021 Online Yoga sessions with Asanas and ‘Yoga exercise Protocol’ was conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 09.15 a.m. 20.06.2021 Online Yoga sessions with Asanas and ‘Yoga exercise Protocol’ was conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 09.15 a.m. 21.06.2021 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA-2021 ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ Session was conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 09.30 a.m. Principal Shri. B.Venkanna, expounded on the utility and necessity of yoga to stay healthy and energetic. Sir reckoned many benefits of early rising and practicing yoga. Speaking to the students, he also pointed out the contribution of yoga in maintaining fitness and good health and how it helps students to memorize something and understand a concept and its context. Vice-Principal Shri.Rajveer Tanvar, Head-mistress Smt. Padmalata with teachers, students and parents also joined the session with same excitement and joy. Different yoga postures like Tadasana, Vrksasana, Ustrasana, Trikonasana, Bhadrasana, Sasakasana, Bhujangasana, Pavanamuktasana, Savasana, finally ended with Pranayama and Meditation. Prayers were recited before and after the programme. Despite many teachers well-tuned with various aspects, dimensions and practices of yoga, Yoga Instructors from BARC staff club - Health and Fitness section were invited to assist the school authorities. Children got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. The informative programme under the guidance of Dr. R.Stylemon Pillai and Smt. N.Rajeswari, Sports teachers of our school enlightened the students about the benefits of yoga and meditation. Heartfelt thanks to our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for giving an opportunity for schools to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. The school is also thankful to CBSE for initiating this under them, also for inculcating Yoga as a part of the syllabus. Behind every good thought, there is always a success and so it happened. .
