Northamptonshire Sport and the , Oundle and SSP successfully ran the yearly girls football competition for the district.

As ever the rain appeared just in time for Year 5/6 girls football competition at Corby Business Academy. Six teams came to compete and show the skills they having been learning in the respective schools. Woodnewton (x2), Oundle and Kingscliff Middle School (x2), Studfall and St Patricks made up the group. With three young officials from Corby Business academy (Sam Willson, Jack Rosborough and Jack Brownlie) refereeing the games the competition went very smoothly.

All the games were very competitive and many were close with four 0-0 draws. Some fabulous football was being played by all the teams and in all the other games the attacking was excellent with some very good goals being scored.

In keeping with the close competition the round robin tournament went down to the last game. Both with equal points OKCMS (A) and Studfall played a very exciting close game. Studfall took the lead mid way through the game and looked like they might be the team to take all the points and win the competition however a fabulous individual goal from the OKCMS striker, who dribbled the length of the pitch under great pressure scored the goal of the tournament to equalise and win the tournament for her team by virtue of goal difference.

All the girls played very well on a very chilly but competitive evening of football.

Winners: OKCMS (A) Runners up: Studfall.
