Pastor Rev. Mark A. Hoffman, ext. 11 FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK….. [email protected]

Deacon Assistant Rev. Mr. James S. Moss From the Desk of the Pastor

Director of Dear Parish Families, Operations and Finance This week we fondly remember two special dates in the life of Mount & Religious Ed. 6-12 Calvary Parish: The first date is actually this Monday, September 11th. It is Pat Marshall, ext.12 the 40th anniversary of the dedication of Mount Calvary Church! In 1977, then [email protected] Alfred M. Watson solemnly anointed the walls and of the new Mount Calvary Church as Father Herbert Gloekler, pastor, proudly looked Director of Maintenance on. The bishop sealed into the altar the relics of Saint Clement and Saint Pius Kathy Crotty, ext.13 X. [email protected] The next date which is special to Mount Calvary Parish is this coming

Thursday, September 14, the Feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross. This is Coordinator of now the “Titular Feast Day” for Mount Calvary Parish. Normally, we Religious Ed K-5 & associate Good Friday as the day we celebrate the saving act of Jesus on Mount Youth Ministry Calvary, but that day prohibits any feasting or celebrating of any kind. So Geri Hadlock, ext. 17 recently, I requested from Bishop Persico that our “Parish Feast” be officially [email protected] transferred to September 14th to allow for such a festive time.

In addition to the dates mentioned above, Mount Calvary’s “birthday” is Director of Liturgical Music the day it was canonically erected by Archbishop John Mark Gannon. Our Maripat C. Grant, ext. 14 date of founding is December 13, 1951. Imagine how surprised people were [email protected] when they were told in the newspaper that the Archbishop was going to make a new parish out of the territories of St. Casmir and St. Mark the Evangelist! Why are these dates worthy to remember? Because a church is not just limited to brick and mortar; it is the people. It’s the most natural thing in the OFFICE HOURS world…. We love to remember dates, feasts, and celebrations which mark our Monday‒Thursday lives. These dates mark the moments when we gave our hard work and hearts 8:00 a.m. ‒3:00 p.m to the church. My prayer is that Our Lord will continue to bless Mount Administrative Assistant Calvary Parish with a spirit of welcome, peace, and fidelity to the truths of the Patti Doss, ext. 10 Catholic faith as we hold hands with Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish in our [email protected] new pastoral partnership. There are still souls to be saved and arms to

embrace. Father Feeney would be proud of what he started so many years ago. God Bless you this week! Father Mark BULLETIN DEADLINE

In order to meet press deadline, Father Mark all bulletin submissions must be Thank You for your Generous Hearts! transmitted in writing I know that dollars are not plentiful for any of our parishioners. Most people have only to the administrative assistant so much to give to charities, so when given, they have to be done thoughtfully. Thank by no later than you for your generous support to last week’s impromptu Special collection for the Monday at victims of Hurricane Harvey. While our dollars need to be multiplied by many other 12:00 p.m. NOON. dollars, your gift was substantial. We will provide a special accounting in this and next week’s bulletin. God Bless you for thinking of others, when you yourself have needs. --- Father Mark Parishes of The ATTENTION All in Liturgical Ministries Roman Catholic You should have already received an email from Father Hoffman asking you to re- Diocese commit to serve at one or more of the weekend Masses.
