Some stories were better than others The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore there was a great mix of characters and the art did not disappoint! Nov 09, Rachel rated it really liked it. I enjoyed this, but I was frustrated. The center of most of these stories is the origin of the Maximoff twins or Frank, or whatever their last name is and knowing that in current comics it has The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore retconned so a lot of what we learn here is moot But other than that it was fun. I liked seeing join the Avengers, and watching them deal with bureaucracy is always a great mixture of amusing and frustrating. May 14, Laura Stericker rated it liked it. Fun, if a little tacky. This edition suffered for being in black and white, particularly the first comic featuring a truly crazy number of characters. Then was a very boring two-parter with Bloodhawk, one of those villains that had no personality and looked like he was created in three seconds. A very forgettable phoned in two issues by Ton DeFalco. Then we get to David Michelinie who shows the rest of them how to do it - he shakes up the Avengers by limiting their roster adding Falcon over which was a less than wise move story-wise and then we launch into an enjoyable series of tales with the Avengers ending with a look into Quicksilver and 's past. A little too much on the flashbacks and it does get confusing with all the exposition - but with Byrne's art they are still very enjoyable. Mar 17, Draackje rated it liked it Shelves: comics. Nights of Wundagore contains stories about the origins of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Both new characters for The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore, and this was a very decent introduction. The history of the characters was summarized in an entertaining way, their relationship with the Avengers was laid out, their childhood issues were explained, and some mystical magical concepts were introduced. Although it felt a little bit dated, I was still entertained and even intrigued by the Scarlet Witch and her potential adventures. Looking forward to reading more about her! Hawkeye lingered for a few issues, helping the core team fight the Absorbing Man, a villain given gratifyingly complex treatment here. Avengers: Nights of Wundagore was an important arc that set in motion a lot of the things that writers would do with the Scarlet Witch over the following three decades. With The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore characterization and complex interpersonal dynamics, it was a vital run of The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore series. The revolving door for writers continued, but strong editorial oversight kept it all consistent. Most importantly, John Byrne came aboard as regular penciler for a stint that would last nearly a year. A version of this review originally appeared The Avengers: Nights of Wundagore www.
