It was at this time that Elizabeth developed her religious beliefs – moderate Protestantism within the Church of England that her father had created. Elizabeth was legitimised in the Succession Act of 1544. Elizabeth played no part in the plan to change the succession in 1553 to Lady Jane Grey. However, the accession of Mary I in July 1553 immediately caused Elizabeth a problem – namely, her sister’s Catholic faith and the determination to impose this on her subjects. -

It is clear by Arbella's declaration (ID 141) that some 'vain humours do possess' her mind and it is therefore difficult to 'resolve precisely what should be done' until Brounker can report further. Museum’s statement of purpose The Museum Service primarily serves those living in the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough area and those connected to the King‟s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry* and believes that its purpose can by summed up in four words : Engage, Preserve, Inspire, Communicate * The King‟s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Museum has its own Collections Development Policy, but is included in the 2013-16 Forward Plan and therefore the Museum Service‟s statement of purpose. 2. An overview of current collections. Existing collections, including the subjects or themes and the periods of time and /or geographic areas to which the collections relate 2.0 At present (2012) the following collections have a member of staff with expertise in that particular field. ABSTRACT This thesis explores the ways in which the industrialist Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) used images of his manufactory and of himself to help develop what would now be considered a ‘brand’. The argument draws heavily on archival research into the commissioning process, authorship and reception of these depictions. Such information is rarely available when studying prints and allows consideration of these images in a new light but also contributes to a wider debate on British eighteenth-century print culture. The first chapter argues that Boulton used images to convey messages about the output of his businesses, to draw together a diverse range of products and associate them with one site. Chapter two explores the setting of the manufactory and the surrounding estate, outlining Boulton’s motivation for creating the parkland and considering the ways in which it was depicted. -
