  • Cineson Productions and Film Bridge International
CineSon Productions and Film Bridge International FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ANDY GARCIA,VERA FARMIGA TO STAR IN ROMANTIC COMEDY “ADMISSIONS” Los Angeles, CA,—Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga are set to star in indie romantic comedy “Admissions,” which Garcia will also produce through his CineSon Productions. Adam Rodgers will direct from a script co-written with Glenn German, who will also produce alongside Sig Libowitz, under his Look at the Moon Productions banner. Ellen Wander of Film Bridge International will executive produce along with Sonya Lunsford (Academy Award-winning box office hit “The Help”), with Wander and FBI handling international distribution. “Admissions” centers on a once-in-a-lifetime relationship that develops between two strangers over the course of a single day. Farmiga portrays Edith, a free-spirited mom taking her driven daughter Audrey on a walking tour of a beautiful small college. Garcia plays buttoned-up heart surgeon George, who’s taking his son Conrad on the same tour. Failing comically to connect with their respective children, George and Edith decide to play “tour hooky” together for the rest of the afternoon. The result is a surprising romance and the greatest half-day of their lives. Academy Award nominee Farmiga (“Up In The Air,” “The Departed,” “Higher Ground,” “Safe House”) has recently wrapped New Line Cinema’s “The Warren Files.” Academy Award nominee Garcia (“The Godfather: Part III”, “The Untouchables”, “Ocean’s 11”) toplines two soon-to-be released films—“For Greater Glory” and “The Truth.” Rodgers’ most recent film as director, “The Response,” was short-listed for the 2010 Academy Awards as Best Live Action Short Film.

  • 1 What About TV Acting? “Cinematic Charisma and TV Performance
What about TV Acting? “Cinematic Charisma and TV Performance” Elizabeth Alsop, City University of New York In this brief paper, I want to consider not only the question posed by the organizers—“Why is their so little scholarship devoted to [actors’] craftsmanship, labor, and central role in production?”—but also the possibility that the conditions that contributed to this scholarly status quo might be changing, as the result of film actors’ continuing migration to the small screen. In short, how might the increased presence of Hollywood performers in contemporary television series be shaping popular and critical discourse around TV acting? Historically, as the organizers note, scholars have tended to engage minimally with the issue of television performance—a reflection, Jeremy G. Butler argues, of various “practical and theoretical” factors, including TV’s traditionally low prestige value among performance media, the lack of a sufficiently nuanced analytical vocabulary, and the “ambiguities of the actor- character relationship” (146, 145). Along similar lines, Roberta Pearson describes the “multiple determinants” shaping TV acting, which can make it difficult to readily delineate the contributions of the performer from, say, those of the writer, showrunner, or editor (a challenge Stephen Lacey also notes in a recent issue of Cinema Journal.) The result is that while there exists a robust tradition of evaluating television performers—as practiced by both fans and TV critics—attempts to describe their labor remain relatively sparse. Even allowing for such difficulties, however, the question remains why there has not been a greater critical interest in the topic of TV performance. In other words, it may not only be that scholars have lacked the language or training to properly analyze small-screen acting.

FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM COGS108 Final Project Group Members: Yanyi Wang Ziwen Zeng Lingfei Lu Yuhan Wang Yuqing Deng Introduction and Background Movie revenue is one of the most important measure of good and bad movies. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue? What aspects should people put more effort on and what factors should people focus on when they try to higher the revenue of a movie? http://localhost:8888/nbconvert/html/Desktop/MyProjects/Pr_085/FinalProject.ipynb?download=false Page 1 of 62 FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM Hypothesis: We predict that the following factors contribute the most to movie revenue.
