Temporary Closure of Roads Temporary Closure of Roads – Roads Act, 1993 In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, Leitrim County Council has made the decision to close the following public roads to through traffic for the purpose of facilitating works associated with the 2021 Road Works Programme. The Temporary Road Closure on each road will operate for a period of 3 to 5 days between 18th March, 2021 to 1st December, 2021. The 5 year action plan which came into being in 2016 has been critical to the development of the village over the last three/four years and the adjudicator was able to measure what has been achieved in that period by seeing what was on the ground. Thank you also for the excellent map which was more than useful for the purposes of adjudication. It was the adjudicator’s first visit to the village and he was most impressed with the manner in which you as a committee engage with the local community. The committee of eight is certainly sufficient in numbers to administer the work load of Tidy Towns in the village.

The lake and its broader catchment have an ancient relationship with the most iconic of Irish fish; a relationship that of late has seen considerable strain on salmon stocks, challenges to the environment and a dwindling importance in relation to local employment and wealth creation. We now find ourselves at a historical tipping point; posing the question of how best to craft an original rural tourism response that will counteract these threats all in the context of an economically disadvantaged cross border Lakeland region with the growing shadow of Brexit. This Study took six months to research, audit and draft. Over sixty individuals participated in the extensive consultation process. Inputs, many of them ongoing throughout, came from the communities, private sector and tourism trade, recreational users, special interest groups, local authorities, government agencies and NGO's.

Water Quality (Dangerous Substances) Regulations, 2001 S.I. 12 of 2001 EPA Export 26-07-2013:02:40:02 SECTION 1 CURRENT WATER QUALITY STATUS AND TARGETS 1.1 Existing Condition In the EPA survey of Dangerous Substances in Surface Freshwaters 1999-2000, there are 5 sites in County Leitrim. Site no. 40 Lough Allen S.E. Drummans Island Site no. 41 Lough Allen N.W. Drumshambo Site no. 43 0.5 km d/s Carrick on Shannon Site no. 44 Rail bridge d/s Masonite Site no. 45 D/s Roosky Atrazine, Simazine, Toluene, Xylenes, Arsenic, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc were analysed. All 5 sites complied with the standards as set out in the Regulations. Dichloromethane, Cyanide and Fluoride were not included in the EPA survey. The River Shannon was monitored at Carrick on Shannon upstream of the town on 1 occasion in 2005 as part of the EU (Quality of Surface Water Intended for the Abstraction of Drinking Water) Regulations, 1989. Lough Gill was monitored at the intake point for the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme under the above Regulation also in 2005. Surface water at the landfills at Mohill and Carrick on Shannon were analysed for dangerous substances as part of the Waste Licence issued by the EPA for these facilities.     THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.

    St Caillín and the Book of Fenagh, 1516-2016 Royal Irish Academy 14 September, 2016 The civil parish of Fenagh is divided between three baronies, Carrigallen, Mohill and, chiefly, the barony of Leitrim. No other place in Leitrim is mentioned as often as Fenagh in the Irish annals. Compare Fenagh with Mohill. The Onomasticon Goedelicum, the Academy’s Dictionary of Irish Placenames, has more references to Fenagh than to any other place in the county. Fenagh is also given much space by Samuel Lewis in his Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, published in 1831. Following Mervyn Archdall (above), Lewis claimed that Fenagh became ‘celebrated as a school of divinity, resorted to by students from all parts of Europe’; an ‘extravagant claim’, according to Bishop James MacNamee, historian of the diocese of Ardagh, for which he could find ‘no support’ The fact that it produced an early manuscript book that still survives, which is said to have been copied from an older book that no longer survives, would be enough to set Fenagh apart from all other Leitrim parishes The Book of Fenagh, kept here in the Royal Irish Academy since its purchase not in 1901 for £1, from a certain Mrs Eagar, as is claimed by the Academy’s Catalogue of Irish Manuscripts (right). In 1888 for £10 from the diocese of Ardagh, following negotiations mediated by the ‘Reverend Denis Murphy’ — a noted scholar and Jesuit from Cork — as is explained by Bernadette Cunningham in Making the Book of Fenagh. A lecture to the Academy by Murphy in 1886 on ‘An ancient manuscript Life of St Caillín’ — now republished in Making the Book of Fenagh — states that the Book had then been loaned to him by the Bishop of Ardagh, and had subsequently been purchased by the Academy.
