This study is an introduction to the of learning key factors affecting the process of acceptance of edible insects by Polish consumers, currently only from Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot (the Tri-City) in northern Poland. Objectives. The aim of this study was to assess the attitudes of Tri-City consumers towards edible insects. It was expressed in the assessment of food diversity in relation to eating benefits of edible insects and to assessment of the levels of dietary neophobia for consumers who perceive the risk of eating them. This study contributes to consumers’ getting used to edible insects. Material and methods. The study was carried out in 2015 among 788 participants ranged from 16 to 80 years. The criterion for participation was the place of residence - the Tri-City. The respondents were qualified in three age groups 16-20 years old, 21-40 years old and over 41 years old. The study was conducted using a survey method. The survey questionnaire included the following scales: the Food Neophobia Scale (FNS) and the Variety Seeking Tendency Scale (VARSEEK) perceiving benefits and perception of health hazards associated with the consumption of edible insects compared to traditional and culturally foreign food. Results. The majority of seekers with a high degree of VARSEEK were men aged 21-40 with higher education. -

Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences, Leninsky Prospect 33, 119071, Moscow, Russia 2Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technological Centre, Nguyen Van Huyen, Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi, Vietnam 3Biological Faculty, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Leninskiye Gory, GSP-1, Moscow 119911, Russia Trophic differentiation of tadpoles of four anuran species (Hoplobatrachus rugulosus, Microhyla fissipes, M. heymonsi, Polypedates megacephalus) with different oral morphologies was studied in temporary ponds in a monsoon tropical forest in southern Vietnam. All tadpole species were found to be omnivorous, including filter-feeding microhylids. Both gut contents analysis and stable isotope analysis provided enough evidence of resource partitioning among coexisting species. Gut contents analysis supported the expected partitioning of food resources by tadpoles with different oral morphologies and showed differences in the food spectra of filter-feeding and grazing species. Stable isotope analysis revealed more complex trophic niche segregation among grazers, as well as amongst filter-feeders. Tadpole species differed mainly in δ13C values, indicating a dependency on carbon sources traceable to either of aquatic or terrestrial origins. Furthermore, tadpoles with generalised grazing oral morphology (P. megacephalus) can start feeding as suspension feeders and then shift to the rasping mode. Controlled diet experiment with P. megacephalus larvae showed a diet-tissue isotopic fractionation of approximately 1.9‰ and 1.2‰ for Δ13C and Δ15N, respectively. -

In all nest types eggs and tadpoles of C. goliath were detected. All nest types were used for egg deposition several times, and could comprise up to three distinct cohorts of tadpoles. -

Wash and dry your hands. You may use regular tap water and light soap, but insure that you rinse your hands thoroughly. 2. Move frog from the Public Programs suite into carrying case. Whenever you transport your frog from the Public Programs suite to the exhibit, please carefully remove them from the habitat terrarium and place them in the small red carrying case (cooler). This will prevent the animal from becoming stressed as it is moved through the Museum. 3. Prepare your audience. Prior to bring out the live frog, ensure that everyone is seated and that you have asked your audience not to move quickly. Sit on the floor as well; this will ensure that if the frog leaps from your hands, it would not have far to fall. 4. Wet your hands. When you are ready to show the frog as part of your demonstration, please moisten your hands with the spray bottle. This will help minimize your dry skin from sucking the moisture out of the frog.
