Curling delivers quality programs and services in all Canadian communities and it will certainly be a benefit for your citizens of all ages and abilities. Good luck to all involved as you help grow the sport in Blue Mountain and ultimately contribute to the quality of life there. Good Curling! Danny Lamoureux Curling Canada, Director, Curling Club Development & Championship Services From: Stephen Chenier Subject: Re: Blue Mountain Curling Centre Date: May 31, 2018 at 10:35:23 AM EDT Julia, The Ontario Curling Association (CurlON) has been working with the committee organizing the Blue Mountain Curling Club for the past year and is excited about the prospect of having a shared curling/skating/hockey complex. This model fits very well into the sport spectrum for many communities as capacity becomes an issue to keep all participants active and engaged in sport. We are very pleased to hear the continued interest in the sport of curling in your location and are planning on hosting a very large event in the area next April attracting over 450 visitors for five days. The economic impact by the sport of curling in Thornbury will be appealing to the local merchants and tourism groups. Looking forward to continuing the process with all parties and to seeing everyone on the ice next season. The Town of Blue Mountains area is a hotbed for curling and the community would be well served by a new curling facility. We would support the club by supplying the required equipment at a discounted price. We would be interested in corporate sponsorship opportunities as well. I think that the 80 curlers they already have signed up is a very good indication of interest to not only start but to grow the numbers. Any activity where we can keep local’s in town while bringing others in from around the area and beyond, is a win for our residence, our businesses and our town. My company is more than willing to support as much as possible with advertising in their programs, in the arena, on our electronic sign and any support we can offer when it comes to tournaments in the future.
