TABLE 1. Named Glaciers of Glacier National Park, . Glacier sizes at the end of the "Little Ice Age" appear under "1850 Area". "Most recent area" refers to the primary glacier patch at the time of "Source year". "Number of patches" indicates the separate perennial ice and snow masses in cirques associated with each glacier, based on 1:24,000-scale USGS quadrangles compiled from 1966 aerial photography. In most cases, the patches are separate remnants of a glacier's former extent.

The area reported for Jackson Glacier is the estimated portion of Blackfoot Glacier that formed Jackson Glacier after the two became separate glaciers. b The area for Grinnell Glacier encompasses what would later be called The Salamander, an ice apron. c Grant and Stanton Glaciers occur outside Glacier National Park. d Considered to be absent in 1979 by Carrara and McGimsey. e Total includes only 11 of 37 named glaciers in Glacier National Park. f Total includes the 37 named glaciers in Glacier National Park from 1966, 1979, and 1993 source material.
