The quality and reliability of the Indian components have improved substantially. The international OEMs are looking at India as their sourcing hub and we are targeting to make most of these opportunities. In times to come international business will be an important focus area for the Group.

This year we have achieved SOP of our plants Minda TTE Daps ( Manesar),Minda Onkyo (Bawal) , Minda Kosei Aluminum Wheels (Gujarat) and Mindarika Pvt. Ltd( Gujarat). In addition, maximizing capacity utilization and expansion in new growth areas will be undertaken for which your support is required.

With global warming and stringent emission norms, BS-VI will provide opportunities for further growth.

We are growing not only in terms of turnover but also establishing ourselves as a socially committed organization. Our CSR activities get greater impetus year after year reaching out to the needy sections of the society. Our footprints have gone overseas with the launch of scholarship program in Indonesia. UNO MINDA rolls out The New Vision

The UNO MINDA Management has rolled out a new Vision along with the Goals FY 2024-25 in December ‘2017 with an aim to be a Sustainable Organization.

Agreement with Sensata Technologies Minda Industries Ltd. has entered into a distribution agreement with Sensata Tachnologies, USA in March this year. In the intial stage, UNO MINDA gets distribution rights for BSVI related sensors – HTS and DPS and Powertrain related sensors.

This partnership would help UNO MINDA to tap the rapidly growing electronics market and also establish it as one of the leading Technology players in auto component industry.

Launch of CREAT – An Advanced Technology Centre of UNO MINDA

With a vision of self-reliance and technology leadership, UNO MINDA launched its first flagship center for advance technologies called CREAT (Center for Research, Engineering and Advance Technologies).

The Center works on embedded electronics products related to connected vehicles, telematics, ADAS, infotainment, EV technologies, controllers and sensors, advance lighting and technologies related to next generation automotive needs.

CREAT works in collaboration with other entities of the UNO MINDA group as well as external technology providers.

Specializing in software, hardware, mechanical and creative design, the team of engineers and designers at CREAT work in the following four product spaces:

Cockpit Electronics and Advance Technologies Body Exterior and Safety Technologies Creative Design and Innovation Product Assurance Lab

The independent creative design studio (INITIA) provides innovative design solutions for concepts, prototypes and production projects with industrial design for automotive exteriors, interiors and accessories for global automotive customers. INITIA services also include UI, UX, and visual design for display-based products like instrument clusters and infotainment systems.

Working in collaboration with multiple engineering teams spread across the UNO MINDA group, Team CREAT developed two technology demonstration vehicles showcasing product and technology innovation capabilities to customers and stakeholders. The TD118 Auto and TD118 Moto were built around the theme “Smart + Connected” demonstrating technologies and products related to advance lighting, alloy wheels, connected vehicles, telematics, integrated in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), ADAS and switches.

The CREAT center also leads innovation processes for the group along with initiatives like MINDA Tech University for enhancing and developing the capabilities of the UNO MINDA family to promote self-reliance and technology leadership.

UNO MINDA Group Inaugurates Alloy Wheel & 4W Switch Plants in Gujarat

18th May’2018 - UNO MINDA Group has inaugurated two new manufacturing plants in Ahmedabad, Gujarat . The two new plants namely Minda Kosei Aluminum Wheels Ltd. (MKAW) and Mindarika Pvt Ltd (MRPL) will manufacture Alloy wheels and Switches & HVAC system respectively. These plants will cater to growing demands of the OEM’s in Indian market. The plants were inaugurated by Honourable Chief Guest Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), along with Mr. NK Minda, Chairman & MD Minda Industries Limited (MIL).

1st Plant: The collaboration between MIL and Kosei Aluminium Co. dates back 5 years and the first plant was setup in Chennai followed by the opening of a plant in Bawal, Haryana region. This is the third plant being setup by the two partners and with this UNO MINDA Group will become one of the largest Alloy Wheel manufacturers in terms of installed capacity in India. The plant will manufacture 60,000 alloy wheels in the first phase, which will be expanded to 120000 Wheels in near future.

Area – 10 acres Installed production Capacity of 60,000 wheels per month which will be expended to 120,000 wheels per month Plant running at full capacity will generate employment opportunity for more than 450 employees Investment of joint association for MKAW in Gujarat is 350 crores in full phase Market Share of Minda Kosei Aluminum Wheels MKAW leads the passenger car segment with over 50% of the market share in Alloy Wheel, retaining no. 1 position

2nd Plant: MRPL is one of the largest player in Switches and HVAC system with over 53% market share in India. This is the 4th plant of MRPL being setup in India and this joint Venture than has completed 25 years. Tokai Rika is a Group Company of Toyota and is a leading player in Switches, HVAC & safety systems.

Distribution & Drying Unit – A New Product by Minda Nabtesco

Minda Nabtesco a Joint Venture Company between UNO MINDA Group and Nabtesco Automotive Corporation, Japan has developed a Distribution and Drying Unit (DU – 3), an application which is deployed in Commercial Vehicles. The Drying and Distribution Unit ensures that the Air brake System is free from carbon,dirt and moisture and also controls the air braking pressure.

Following are the features of the Drying Unit

Dual governor system • Global patented for higher pressure (CO-CI > ~2 bar ) difference setting High performance cartridge • Desiccant volume-590cc ,Drying performance @DT=18°C –188 L/cycle • High Oil removal ratio (%) - 98% • Easy replaceable with bolted cartridge Series charging, Filling sequence 21/22 -> 23/24 Unique orifice valve design for Bypass/High retaining pressure. Bleed back feature (optional) provides additional safety in case of any one or both service brake failure.

Mindarika Pvt. Ltd. has developed EHVAC- Cap Sense over CAN bus communication

The automotive industry is transforming with true touch Cap-sense technology replacing the traditional mechanical type switches. Mindarika Pvt. Ltd, has for the first time developed EHVAC panels with the cap sense technology sensors over the CAN bus Communication. In HVAC control panel this technology ensures easy to replace switches & encoders which are easy in operation with hepatics feedback.

UNO MINDA participates in ACMA Value Chain Summit, Gujarat

Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), the apex body representing the Indian auto component manufacturing industry organized the ‘ACMA Value Chain Summit’ in Gandhinagar to showcase products and solutions for the Gujarat based OEMs. The summit, with the objective of creating a robust automotive ecosystem in the state was hosted on May 18 and 19, 2018 at the Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani.

The state of Gujarat has emerged as a key investment destination for major automotive manufacturers. The Government of Gujarat aims at increasing the contribution of automotive production in overall engineering output to 10% by 2020 from the current 3.7%.

UNO MINDA being ACMA member and a leading Tier 1 components manufacturer had participated in the event and had set up a stall showcasing product innovations.

UNO MINDA in Auto Expo 2018 8-11th Feb’2018 – UNO MINDA Group participated in Auto Expo this year from 8 – 11 th Feb’2018 in Pragati Maidan. UNO Minda Group has a presence in more than 26 product categories. The major attraction was TD118, a technology demonstration Car & Bike first of this series which had incorporated new and future technologies.The moniker(TD118) stands for technology demonstrator car No. 1, 2018. The TDXYY is an approach of UNO Minda to showcase its capabilities in terms of advanced features, technologies and innovations for automobiles. In addition, all UNO MINDA Group Companies together showcased more than 20 product lines. The theme of the UNO MINDA stall was Connecting Ideas to Technologies and the depicted product lines justified the theme with Smart + Connected technology demonstration.

The design and features of the TD118 Auto and Moto has been done to ensure it meets high customer standards and appeals to its end customer. The complete user experience right from the concept, ideation and HMI design has been realized at UNO Minda in-house design studio.

The stall was inaugurated by Mr. Anant Geete, Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and public Sector enterprises along with Mr. Nirmal Kumar Minda, President ACMA and CMD, UNO MINDA Group. Various OEM’s top management team had visited the stall which included Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa CEO MSIL; Mr. C V Raman, Head R&D MSIL; Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD M&M; Mr. Rajan Wadhera, President automotive Sector & Member of the group Executive Board, M&M; Mr. Akita Tachibana MD TKML; Mr Katsushi Inoue, President & CEO Honda Cars India Ltd; Mr. Ananda Krishna, Vice President, TVS Motor. The total footfall for four days at our stall was approximately 30000.

CMD Award to MIL Switch Team GMMC Members along with CFT Team of Innovation Meet

This year 5th Innovation Meet (I-Meet) was organized at Minda Light 4W, MTP Manesar on 17th March 2018. This was very well managed by organizing committee and the participants. Participations were invited from across the group to showcase their creative capabilities for Product, Process and Services. The event was categorized into three groups i.e. “Product, Process & Services”, each innovation category was further sub divided into three categories “Radical, Diversified & Incremental”. The Objective of event is to encourage and invite increased employee participation in terms of Innovation & Creativity. The event marked the presence of R&D leaders across the Group.

The chief guest for the event was Dr. Tapan Sahoo, Sr. Vice President, Engg, R&D Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. He joined the program and shared his views and experiences on Innovation and how Industries influence in terms of technology and respective disruptions. He also shared how the industries is tackling and addressing the concerns of the end customers and in near future the product will be a combination of Product & Service and the success mantra would remain the same.

Within the group, an amazing sprit of participation prevailed having a total 51 innovations that were displayed during the Innovation Gallery along with the Moto TD118 presided over by the Chief Guest & team, Sh. N. K. Minda and the Leadership team. There were a total of 80 entries for product category, 40 for process and 17 for services category which were further shortlisted by the Management Committee and 28 entries for product category, 16 for process and 7 for services category were selected for showcasing on stalls & presentation. HMSI (Honda motorcycle and scooters India) top management team also visited the event in the second half, who went through the stalls and looked at all the features demonstrated in Moto TD118.

A total of 20 awards were distributed for product, process and service including CMD Award and Debutant Award. The Winner for Product category in all three categories Radical, Diversified, and Incremental was won by Mindarika Manesar, the winner for Process – Diversified was won by Minda Battery storage Pvt. ltd pantnagar and in Process – Radical category the winner was Minda Switch Division. In Services this time as well the winner for MDSL for Digital mapping. The debutant award was won by Minda I Connect & Minda AEC and this year the most prestigious award – CMD Award was won by Minda Switch Division. Apart from these group awards, 45 individual awards were also distributed to the employees who had contributed to the innovation which resulted in filing a patent for the same.

ET Auto EV Conclave: New Delhi

ET Auto had organized an EV Conclave on 12th Jan 2018. The event main agenda was to bring together the stakeholders to discuss, deliberate and chart a direction for the imminent transition and the possible impact it likely will have on not only the environment but the entire auto industry, the government and possibly the country’s socio-economic landscape. ETAuto EV conclave aim was to bring all stakeholders of Electric vehicle on common platform.

This program was enlightened with speakers i.e. Mr. Nitin Gadkari (recorded message), Mr. Manish Sisodia, Mr. Pawan Goenka MD Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Nishant Arya ED, JBM Group. Mr. Nirmal Kumar Minda shared his view in panel discussion along with Sumit Sawhney, country CEO & MD Renault India. Mr. Minda expressed his view on behalf of Tier-1 auto components Suppliers. Mr. Minda said “Many Tier -1 companies are still not ready with their preparedness for EV components. It is all depended on OEM RFQ’s and clarity about EV market”. He addressed the gathering with his strong opinion of localization of sub components to reduce the BOM cost.
