Year 8: Shilah Morgan-Hardware Has worked incredibly hard and has done exceptionally well in her homework this week Dear Parents/Carers As we enter another lockdown it becomes even more important that our young people are vigilant both at school and on their journeys. Students should not be mixing with other year groups outside of their household or loitering before and after school. They should be making their way directly to school and home afterwards. This week there has been a case in the press about an alleged sexual assault of a teenager, in South London, at 7am on Tuesday morning. This places even greater emphasis on the need for young people to make their way directly to and from school. We will be reiterating this point to our students next week so that they understand that this is necessary, both to comply with the lockdown regulations, but also as a means of keeping themselves safe. Every afternoon senior staff patrol the local area to ensure that students are making their way straight home. Given recent events, we will also be introducing a morning patrol each day. I understand that this is a very challenging time for everyone and I want to reassure you that the health and well-being of our students is paramount. We have taken time this year to think about adapting our character days to respond to the current climate that we live in, so that further support is available to our students. Our safeguarding team continues to work with students who are vulnerable or who are finding life more difficult at this time. I want to remind you that the team is available to support your child should they need it and that as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, I am working to review our processes to make sure that they are fit to support the differing circumstances that our students may be facing. A black or navy blue rain jacket will help protect the children from getting wet in the rain. Please ensure your children have suitable attire so that they are not at an increased risk of getting wet, and subsequently getting a cold and being off school. Coronavirus Testing We are grateful to parents for respecting the Coronavirus symptoms guidance, testing procedures and relevant isolation times. Could we please ask that as soon as you have the test results for your child or member of the household as appropriate that you contact us before sending your child back into school. This avoids children being isolated unnecessarily and our isolation spaces are kept free. Face Masks and Water Bottles Please ensure that your child has a reusable face mask every day. The school are very low on spares and can no longer provide these to students. Please ensure your child has a full water bottle every day. Water is available every break and lunch for refilling. Support for parents around your child's wellbeing - Weekly drop in (via email) 9.30-10.30am every Thursday I would like to introduce you to Leanne, our CAMHS Worker in Schools (CWIS) and to invite you to a weekly email drop in session. Leann is based in the school every Thursday as part of the WAMHS (Wellbeing and Mental Health in Schools) project.Her role is to support the school to develop and action strategies that will benefit the wellbeing of the whole school community - pupils, staff and parents/carers. As part of this, she would like to invite parents/carers to contact her for an email drop in session. Leann will be available between 9.30am and 10.30am on Thursday mornings in term time, starting 19th November. In April 2015, geographically coded data were unavailable from 2 practices using a different IT system (the Dalston Practice in Hackney Central, and the Abney House Practice in Stoke Newington) – this makes the data for these areas somewhat less reliable, and will be improved in future versions of these profiles.
