Watercare agrees to postpone pipeline work over Christmas
Construction work to lay new water and wastewater pipes through Clevedon village will be deferred until January to avoid the busy Christmas holiday period. At a meeting on Wednesday (9 October) with Clevedon community representatives, Watercare agreed to avoid works in the main township in December. The pipeline project will however continue in outlying roads during this time. Watercare local board/stakeholder engagement manager, Brent Evans says the work is due to resume through Clevedon village on 7 January: “We have listened to everyone’s concerns and we’re making real efforts to avoid disrupting Clevedon’s events and business activities as much as possible. Traditionally many people go away after Christmas, so we’ll resume work through the main streets in early January, when it will be a lot quieter.” Pipeline work through the township is expected to take approximately nine weeks. This will be done in sections to minimise disruption to individual busi- nesses. After that, construction of new pump stations will begin. In the meantime, Watercare is collating registrations of interest from residents regarding potential new connections. Information packs containing check lists and other details will be sent out shortly. For more details, please contact: [email protected]. Victoria Richards from Clevedon Business Association is also happy to coordinate ques- tions for Watercare to respond to: [email protected]. 6 POHUTUKAWA COAST TIMES (18 October 2019) ADVERTORIAL Health & Lifestyle Book now for a New You in just 6 weeks at Perform Fitness
