CYLINDER AND PISTON DESIGN

Tne cylinOers on a PACIFIC@ K-Series are heavy, cast, single-piece, domed-head cylinders which eliminate high stresses and potential oil leakage areas on the high pressure side of the cylinder. Bores are honed and polished to 16 micro inches. The cylinders are double-acting, with an extra large area under the piston to provide additional ram support capability.

P,rron, and rods are one-piece, wear-resistant, class 40 castings, honed and polished to 16 micro inches. Rods are either non-metallic or bronze guided, depending on press model, to insure long life with minimum packing wear. The oil retaining rod surfaces are an aid to proper lubrication.

MODULAR STACKED VALVES

B.."r." the valve system of a hydraulic is the heart of the press, all valves on a K-Series are designed and built by PACIFIC@ to assure their operating characteristics of being completely compatible with the press brake itself. PACIFIC@ valves, unlike most commercial, "off-the-shelf" valves, provide improved accuracy and the special pressure and directional control characteristics necessary for two- cylinder hydraulic press design.

Poa,a,at-built, heavy duty valves are specially designed for long, rugged service with a minimum of maintenance. They are "stacked" in modular form to eliminate inter- connecting piping and to avoid the necessity of a massive, heat producing, manifold block.

4 And Dependable Hydraulic System

AUTOMATI C D ECOM P RESS I O N SYSTE M

Controtled Power Release is a standard feature of all K-Series Press Brakes. lt is a feature that provides decompression of the oil in the main cylinders belore the ram starts its return stroke. This reduces the high-velocity, uncontrolled return shock when working on jobs having a large build-up of stored energy typical of high strength steels with a considerable amount of spring back.

TEMP ERATU RE COM PENSATED AM PLI FI ER LEVEL CONTROL

Pacitic's Amplifier Level Control System provides the fastest and most accurate ram levelling response of any press brake available. This advanced system is responsible for the great repeatability of the K-Series Press Brakes. lt senses and automatically corrects variations in ram level as small as .001" with resulting overall machine level accuracies measured in thousandths of an inch. T I he system incorporates two amplifier valves, a level controlvalve, and a steel leveltape. ln operation, the tape serves as a sensitive level monitor to the level control valve. The slightest "out of level" movement of the level valve is further amplified within the leading amplifier valve, which, beacuse of its great flow capacity, makes an immediate high speed hydraulic correction to return the ram to its original These large tonnage, rugged K-Series hydraulic press brakes have level condition. provided years of dependable service to G.E. Mathis, a Chiiago T area job shop specializing in both sheet and plate steel labrication. I he accuracy of K-Series Press Brakes cannot be influenced by the effect of rapid temperature changes on the steel level-control tape of the press. The steel tape, because of its small size, is, naturally, highly responsive to temperature changes, contracting or expanding with TONNAGE CONTROL AND NON-OVERLOAD ambient temperature changes and thus effecting ram level RELIEF VALVE SYSTEM accuracy. LONG, FULL POWER STROKES

Po",r,"a K-Series Press Brakes have unusually long standard strokes. Generous open heights are standard and closed heights are designed, in most cases, so that the need for a filler block is minimal.

[Jntixe mechanical press brakes, full rated tonnage can be used throughout the stroke of a K-Series. Mechantcal press brakes have short strokes with full rated tonnage = available only at or near the bottom of the stroke. Mid- stroke is normally only twothirds of rated capacity. The longer stroke of a K-Series is completely adjustable with full tonnage available at any point in the stroke. This provides greater bending capacities than those of similar tonnage mechanicals. Heavier material can be formed due to the long power stroke being compatible with larger female m' li ,:;. l press do ilIr dies and thicker materials. Mechanical brakes [{tn[i NrN!! rls{ not have comparable plate bending capacity because thicker plate requires a longer power stroke than they normally have available. With Pacific's hydraulic K-Series, you get "bonus- ffi bending capacitt''at no additional cost. € TILT ADJUSTMENT <\

Pacitic's K-Series Press Brakes feature a ram tilt adjustment to facilitate fade-out work and to compensate for die variations. The ram may be tilted (without adjusting slide clearances) to a maximum of 1" in 10' of ram length in either direction by a simple adjustment of the automatic level control system. Once tilted, the level control automatically maintains the desired angle. Tandem Press Brakes

4 ( il l J I $ J $ Y/

POa,t'"@ Press Brakes designed for tandem operation (two or more press brakes operating in synchronization), are connected with both hydraulic and electricalcontrols. This exclusive connection provides complete synchronization in all speeds. lt is the most accurate tandem arrangement available anywhere. The rams of both press brakes remain in unison through the entire stroke without using a demountable, physicalconnection between the rams. When it is desired to use the presses separately, the operator can merely activate a single switch to disconnect the machines both electrically and hydraulically.

Tn" PACIFIC@ Tandem Control concept is essentially a hydraulic system which permits a much faster and more precise degree of synchronization between the two rams than that provided by an electrical connection alone. The hydraulic connection for both presses uses a single servo-valve mounted on the ram of one press, The synchronizing valve spool moves by roller contact with the cam located on the second press. The valve spool design enables an extremely fast hydraulic correction. lf movement as little as .001" in either direction occurs between the two press rams, at any speed, hydraulic correction is instantly obtained.
