The sesquiterpene lactone parthenolide accumulates in feverfew shoots and is thought to contribute to feverfew's antimigraine activity. The first part of this study examined the effects of nitrogen application and irrigation on shoot yield and shoot parthenolide concentration. -

Fill the pot of the Precision Poacher with water up to the SOUS VIDE fill line. Put the egg tray into the pot. Cover with the lid and insert probe through the vent. Press METHOD button to select SOUS VIDE. Press TEMPERATURE button to select 59°C. Press TIME button to select 15 minutes. Press START to preheat water. 2. While the water is preheating, place shrimp neatly into a vacuum bag with butter cubes, tarragon, garlic and black pepper. Vacuum seal the bag. 3. When preheat has finished, the unit will beep. Drop the bag into the water, ensuring it is submerged. Cover with the lid and insert probe. 4. Press START. When cooking is complete, snip the bag and divide shrimps among two bowls. Drizzle over the garlic and tarragon butter, season. Serve with crusty bread and salad. Note: A vacuum sealer and vacuum bags are needed for this recipe. Croat., Vol. 7, No. 3., 227¿274, 1998, Zagreb Researching the vascular flora of the Po`ega Valley and the surrounding mountains, alto- gether 1467 plant taxa were recorded. An analysis was made of which floral elements particular plant taxa belonged to, as well as an analysis of the life forms. In the vegetation cover of this area plants of the Eurasian floral element as well as European plants represent the major propor- tion. This shows that in the phytogeographical aspect this area belongs to the Eurosiberian- Northamerican region. According to life forms, vascular plants are distributed in the following numbers: H=650, T=355, G=148, P=209, Ch=70, Hy=33. The oil and leaves are used to make medicine. Throughout history, both American pennyroyal and European pennyroyal have been used interchangeably as a source of oil. Despite serious safety concerns, pennyroyal is used for colds, pneumonia, and other breathing problems. It is also used for stomach pains, gas, intestinal disorders, and liver and gallbladder problems. Women use it to start or regulate their menstrual periods, or to cause an abortion. Pennyroyal is also used to control muscle spasms, cause sweating, and increase urine production. Some people use it as a stimulant and to counteract weakness. Pennyroyal is applied to the skin to kill germs, keep insects away, and treat skin diseases. It is also used topically for gout, venomous bites, and mouth sores; and as a flea-killing bath. In foods, pennyroyal is used for flavoring. In manufacturing, pennyroyal oil is used as a dog and cat flea repellent; and as a fragrance for detergents, perfumes, and soaps. How effective is it? Native or Suitable Plants City of McCall The following list of plants is presented to assist the developer, business owner, or homeowner in selecting plants for landscaping. The list is by no means complete, but is a recommended selection of plants which are either native or have been successfully introduced to our area. Successful landscaping, however, requires much more than just the selection of plants. Unless you have some experience, it is suggested than you employ the services of a trained or otherwise experienced landscaper, arborist, or forester. For best results it is recommended that careful consideration be made in purchasing the plants from the local nurseries (i.e. Cascade, McCall, and New Meadows). Plants brought in from the Treasure Valley may not survive our local weather conditions, microsites, and higher elevations. Timing can also be a serious consideration as the plants may have already broken dormancy and can be damaged by our late frosts.
