Welcome and thank you for joining us at Bandage Ball 2019! It has been our privilege to put this evening together with the help of many volunteers, the dedicated staff of the Overlake Foundation, and the incredible doctors and nurses who help moms welcome new babies—ten or more a day—into the world. They have patiently and generously given their time to help create this event. We are asking for your support this evening to build a beautiful, new, state-of-the-art Childbirth Center. The Childbirth Center is part of a larger, $250 million campus renewal that will give the Eastside community outstanding care for moms and newborns in an exceptional environment. We are honored to be co-chairs of this year’s Bandage Ball and grateful to you for attending and supporting great healthcare for this community. Thank you and have a wonderful evening! Jim Boshaw Laura Mair 4 Tonight’s Beneficiary: Overlake’s New Childbirth Center Having a baby is often a family affair these days. Not only have dads graduated from the waiting room to the bedside, but so have grandparents, siblings and family friends. Today, a great birth experience may mean having plenty of space for all of the people supporting the new mom. Overlake’s new Childbirth Center, opening in 2020, will offer every mom that space. Large, bright, modern rooms have been designed to accommodate families in a homey setting, while advanced medical support is available at all times. The Childbirth Center will include some new features that will make Overlake’s world-class care even better. • A dedicated obstetric emergency department with private rooms for pregnant women experiencing medical emergencies. • A unit for moms who need medically supervised bed rest, keeping labor and delivery rooms free and providing a peaceful environment with the amenities needed for a longer hospital stay. • Additional neonatal intensive care (NICU) space, close to our existing level III NICU. Overlake has been caring for moms, babies and families for nearly 60 years, and we plan to keep on delivering. About 4,000 babies are born here each year. Tonight’s festivities will raise funds to bring the new Childbirth Center into the world to serve Eastside families for years to come.
