Following the completion of general histology section, oral histology are presented in detail. Lecture series is complimented by image exercised toward a comprehensive understanding of any given topic. A question and answer period offers the final interaction between the lecturer and the students which concludes the study for a given morning. In addition, two clinical correlation lectures are presented during the semester. Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to: 1. List and explain the general feature of cell, tissue, and organs system of the human body. 2. List and explain the features of the soft tissues found in the oral cavity. 3. Identify and explain all components of the tooth. 4. Identify and explain all elements of the Periodontium. Competency Statements (Student Learning Outcomes) for Lecture Course This course contributes to foundation knowledge in the development of student competencies: 1.3 Recognize the role of self-directed lifelong learning and self-assessment in maintaining competency. 1.5 Apply the principles of ethical reasoning, evidence-based information, and professional responsibility as they pertain to patient care and practice management. 2.1 Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills in the comprehensive care of patients. 4.7 Recognize predisposing and etiologic factors that require intervention to prevent disease. 4.9 Recognize the manifestations of systemic disease and how the disease and its management may affect the delivery of dental care. 4.10 Integrate subjective and objective clinical findings in the formulation of the diagnosis. 6.5 Diagnose and manage (refer or treat) patients with periodontal disease. 6.10 Diagnose and manage patients with oral mucosal and osseous disorders. 6.16 Recognize and manage medical emergencies that may occur in dental practice. On the exam days, one written exam and an image identification exam will be given. All exams are weighted equally (12.5% toward the course grade); there is no cumulative final exam. Periodic examinations will be given at the designated time indicated above. The objective of this study was to determine the predictors of osteoradionecrosis (ORN) which were associated with a dental extraction post radiotherapy. Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical records and dental panoramic tomogram (DPT) of patients with a history of head and neck radiotherapy who underwent dental extraction between August 2005 to October 2019 was conducted. Results: Seventy-three patients fulflled the inclusion criteria. 16 (21.9%) had ORN post dental extraction and 389 teeth were extracted. 33 sockets (8.5%) developed ORN. Univariate analyses showed signifcant associations with ORN for the following factors: tooth type, tooth pathology, surgical procedure, primary closure, target volume, total dose, timing of extraction post radiotherapy, bony changes at extraction site and visibility of lower and upper cortical line of mandibular canal. Using multivariate analysis, the odds of developing an ORN from a surgical procedure was 6.50 (CI 1.37–30.91, p 0.02). Dental extraction of more than 5 years after radiotherapy and invisible upper cortical line of mandibular canal= on the DPT have the odds of 0.06 (CI 0.01–0.25, p < 0.001) and 9.47 (CI 1.61–55.88, p 0.01), respectively.

The study was conducted to assess the clinical, functional and biochemical state of the oral cavity in children and adolescents with dentoalveolar anomalies against the background of bronchial asthma. A comprehensive epidemiological examination was carried out in 225 children and adolescents, divided into two groups. The main group of 180 included patients with dentoalveolar anomalies and deformity, suffering from bronchial asthma, and the Control group of 45 patients without somatic pathology. Both groups were divided into age categories 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old and 14-18 years old. In the course of clinical research, the state of hard tissues of the tooth, periodontal tissues and the oral mucosa, as well as the frequency of dentoalveolar anomalies and deformities, the level of oral hygiene were studied. Our goal is a comparative analysis of the assessment of quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by chronic kidney disease after the use of orthopedic dental treatment. Analysis of questionnaires showed that the quality of life of patients with partial absence of teeth was reduced to a varying degree in all groups of patients. Summarizing the results of the study, we can conclude that the correct deontological approach using the developed recommendations for the collection of anamnesis will facilitate understanding by the dentist of the algorithms and methods of treating the patient and help to improve the quality of prosthetics and further rehabilitation. Less than 5% of adults with the full complement of teeth have sufficient space for the complete eruption of the third molars. Thus, it play a predominant role in the incidence of retention. With retention can be connected infections, cysts, tumours, neuralgiform pain, anomalies of tooth position, masticatory dysfunction, disturbances of occlusion and myoarthropathies. A study based on gender was made on the number of erupted upper wisdom teeth in the oral cavity. Thus, an individual may present one, two or not even one upper wisdom tooth in the oral cavity. Upper wisdom teeth present in the oral cavity have also been studied in terms of eruption progress: fully erupted or in eruption, as well as in terms of the eruption axis: on the axis or protruded. INTRODUCTION Eruption of permanent teeth is usually easy without any occuring disorders in the incisors, canines and premolars, while spontaneous exfoliation of deciduous teeth occurs through progressive root resorption. The most common accidents are related to the lower wisdom teeth eruption and to a lesser extent to the upper wisdom teeth eruption.
