Adrian Mole: Diary of a Provincial Man
ADRIAN MOLE: DIARY OF A PROVINCIAL MAN By Sue Townsend Published in The Guardian December 4 th 1999 – November 24 th 2001 This compilation by Nicholas Wordsworth [[email protected]] June 2008 Adrian Mole is now aged 32 Friday, November 26, 1999, 2.30pm Wisteria Walk, Ashby-de- la-Zouch, Leicestershire I have not kept a diary since fire destroyed my house, furniture, clothes, books and life savings. The arsonist, Eleanor Flood, is residing in a secure unit, where she is doing an MA. Her dissertation is entitled “The Phoenix - Myth Or Metaphor?” I know, because she writes to me occasionally. I have protested to the authorities, but they are powerless to stop her letters, which are obviously being smuggled out by a corrupt prison warden. As I lie in bed at night, listening to the breathing of my sons, William and Glenn, in their bunk-beds only inches away from my head, I often think of Eleanor Flood, and envy her. At least she has a room of her own, and time in which to think and write. 11pm Took the boys to watch Santa abseiling down the side of Debenhams in Leicester tonight on his way to his Grotto. William was enchanted by the sight of Santa swinging from a climbing rope, but Glenn kept looking around anxiously at the crowd of onlookers. He said, "If anybody from school sees me 'ere, I'm a dead man, Dad." The queue for the grotto was at least 70 deep. It snaked through Toys into Bed Linens and Small Electrical Appliances. -

In fact, Thatcherism shook British politics and had a profound impact on the Labour party. This dissertation explores the policies of the Conservative and Labour parties under Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair from 1979 until Blair‘s resignation in 2007. It aims at showing and analyzing how New Labour under Tony Blair adopted and embraced Thatcherism. These analyses take places through studying similarities and differences between Blairism and Thatcherism. As to the approach, which is comparative, it was used to unveil both ideologies. The Labour Party reestablished itself by adopting a liberal approach and Blairism was considered a continuation of Thatcher‘s capitalism with a preservation of some social principles. -

(2001-2007) and David Cameron (2010-2016) Administration in the Case of 9/11 and Arab Spring
THE ANALYSIS OF UNITED KINGDOM DEFENCE POLICY UNDER TONY BLAIR (2001-2007) AND DAVID CAMERON (2010-2016) ADMINISTRATION IN THE CASE OF 9/11 AND ARAB SPRING By IRANTI MANTASARI 016201300070 A Thesis presented to Faculty of Humanity President University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for Bachelor Degree in International Relations Concentration in Defense and Strategic Studies January 2017 ii iii iv ABSTRACT Title: The Analysis of United Kingdom Defence Policy Under Tony Blair (2001- 2007) and David Cameron (2010-2016) Administration In The Case of 9/11 and Arab Spring Ever since the end of the Cold War, especially after 9/11 attack in 2001, the security in world politics has become more complex. This has urged world leaders, including Tony Blair and David Cameron to maintain strong and firm defence policy as the main tool to deter the threats posed to UK. The emergence of the uprising during Arab Spring also brought the impact towards the security of UK. Terrorism as the effect of 9/11 and dictatorship in the emergence of Arab Spring were perceived threatening UK national security and national interest. Hence, building the security relations with regional organizations is deem necessary for UK to form a strong alliance to also deter the threats. However, defence policy implemented by states is most likely affected by the idiosyncratic factors or personal characteristics of the leaders. This particular research centered upon the explanation of the relations between the idiosyncratic factors of Tony Blair and David Cameron with the defence policy implementation as the response of 9/11 and Arab Spring, by analyzing the threat perception, national interest, and strategic environment of the leaders.
