The Aurora native helped Team Canada take the gold medal on Sunday in the 2017 Spengler Cup, the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world, hosted annually in Davos, Switzerland. After helping Canada to win their first preliminary round matchup with Mountfield HK 5 ? 3, Sikura earned his first point in game two against the host team HC Davos, setting up Andrew Ebbett to tie the game at one in the second period. Beating a tough Davos squad 4 ? 1, the Canadians went on to meet Mountfield once more in the tournament semifinals, winning 5 ? 2 to set up a New Year's Eve final against Team Switzerland. A 3 ? 0 shutout of the Swiss earned Team Canada their third straight Spengler Cup. A former Aurora Tiger and St. Andrew's College grad, Sikura now suits up for Northeastern University of the NCAA's Division I hockey program. ?Congrats (Dylan) on representing Canada with skill and class,? said St. Andrew's varsity coach Greg Reid in a tweet.? Claremont McKenna College Tapping the Potential of Sports: Incentives in China’s Reformation of the Sports Industry Submitted to Professor Minxin Pei by Yu Fu for Senior Thesis Spring 2017 April 24, 2017 2 Abstract Since the 2010s, China’s sports industry has undergone comprehensive reforms. This paper attempts to understand this change of direction from the central state’s perspective. By examining the dynamics of the basketball and soccer markets, it discovers that while the deregulation of basketball is a result of persistent bottom-up effort from the private sector, the recentralization of soccer is a state-led policy change. Notwithstanding the different nature and routes between these reforms, in both sectors, the state’s aim is to restore and strengthen its legitimacy within the society. Amidst China’s economic stagnation, the regime hopes to identify sectors that can drive sustainable growth, and to make adjustments to its bureaucracy as a way to respond to the society’s mounting demand for political modernization.

When I sit back and think about the Chapter, I often think about the past, the great times I have experienced with you all – both on the road and at social events – and then I look forward and wonder what the future will hold for us all. My priority has always been you, our members, because without you this Chapter would not exist. I still get excited that through these difficult times we are still managing to attract new members into our group. As I write this I’m pleased to say that number is 27. That alone tells me we are still heading in the right direction. The camaraderie in our Chapter is on a very high level and that keeps me happy! Like I said in the previous newsletter, 2020 and the first part of 2021 has been the most challenging for me and the Committee but we can at last, I hope, finally see some sort of easing with the restrictions that we have to follow.
