Although they are separate organisations, they share a common goal to see local people benefit from gaining the necessary skills and qualifications, through the appropriate provision of education, training and apprenticeships, to enable as many of them as possible to gain employment. We have been working with the applicant to find the best ways to bring this about. This Written Representation will concentrate on the Educational Opportunities and we will make further submissions on Jobs, Training and Apprenticeships throughout the Examination Process. COVID-19 Testing Privacy Statement Ownership of the Personal Data To enable COVID-19 testing to be completed at all of the Trust’s schools, we need to process personal data for staff and pupils taking part, including sharing of personal data where we have a legal obligation. Each of the academies within the Gosforth Group1 are Data Controllers for the data required for processing the tests and undertaking any actions which are needed by the school to ensure we meet our public health and safeguarding legal obligations. Legal obligations include personal data relating to tests for pupils [Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 for maintained schools or paragraph 7 of the Schedule to the Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014 applicable to academies or paragraphs 3 and 14 of the Schedule to the Non-Maintained Special Schools (England) Regulations 2015 applicable to Non-Maintained Special Schools.] Personal data relating to staff is processed under the legitimate interest of the data controllers to ensure we can minimise the spread of COVID-19 in a timely manner and enable us to continue to deliver education services safely and securely. As a member of staff or a student, if you decline a test, we record your decision under the legitimate interest of the school in order to have a record of your decision and to reduce unnecessary contact with you regarding testing. This report presents the outcome of the 2017/18 consultation exercise with Governing Boards of Local Authority (LA) Schools and others in respect of proposed pupil admission arrangements for September 2019, and specifically seeks the Council’s determination of the pupil admission arrangements for those schools for which it is the admission authority i.e. Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools, and agreement to the operation of the Co-ordinated Admission Scheme. 2. The Education (School Information) (England) Regulations 2008 require the LA to publish information annually about admission arrangements for the following year for all maintained schools in its area, and to publish for each school year a ‘composite prospectus’ giving summary details of admission information. -

LBP0018 Written evidence submitted by The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium Education Select Committee Left behind white pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds Inquiry SUBMISSION FROM THE NORTHERN POWERHOUSE EDUCATION CONSORTIUM Introduction and summary of recommendations Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium are a group of organisations with focus on education and disadvantage campaigning in the North of England, including SHINE, Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) and Tutor Trust. This is a joint submission to the inquiry, acting together as ‘The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium’. We make the case that ethnicity is a major factor in the long term disadvantage gap, in particular white working class girls and boys. These issues are highly concentrated in left behind towns and the most deprived communities across the North of England. In the submission, we recommend strong actions for Government in particular: o New smart Opportunity Areas across the North of England. o An Emergency Pupil Premium distribution arrangement for 2020-21, including reform to better tackle long-term disadvantage. o A Catch-up Premium for the return to school. o Support to Northern Universities to provide additional temporary capacity for tutoring, including a key role for recent graduates and students to take part in accredited training. About the Organisations in our consortium SHINE (Support and Help IN Education) are a charity based in Leeds that help to raise the attainment of disadvantaged children across the Northern Powerhouse. Trustees include Lord Jim O’Neill, also a co-founder of SHINE, and Raksha Pattni. The Northern Powerhouse Partnership’s Education Committee works as part of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) focusing on the Education and Skills agenda in the North of England. -

Our Ref: GAH/EMH 17 March 2021 Dear Parent/Carer GOSFORTH ACADEMY HOME TESTING INFORMATION Regular asymptomatic (no symptoms) COVID-19 testing has been in place at Gosforth Academy since February 2021. The Government has recently announced that all secondary aged students will also be offered regular asymptomatic COVID-19 tests to take at home with LFD kits. All secondary aged students will be offered LFD tests to take at home twice a week, so that we can reduce the spread of the virus. Up to one in three people who have COVID-19 can spread the virus without knowing. This is because they have no symptoms. To reduce the spread of the virus, we need to identify those individuals. We can do this within Gosforth Academy by carrying out tests at home twice every week. Testing pupils/students at home We understand that each child has individual needs. Many children will adapt to testing becoming part of their routine, others will find it more challenging. Taking part in testing is voluntary and all children will be able to attend Gosforth Academy whether they take part or not. We hope that the option to take the test in the morning or the evening will support families to test at home. Students will collect tests kits from school. Tests are free of charge. Initially, students will receive testing kits with a leaflet on how to take the test and report the results. We require results to be recorded on the NHS Test & Trace self-report website and on the school FROG page. -

It is clear we all need to continue to do all we can individually and collectively to reduce the chances of infection in our community. In school, we have continued to cater for a very small minority of key worker/vulnerable students alongside completing our final week of external vocational exams and conducting a successful mass testing trial. Remote learning By the end of next week, Year 10-13 will be having at least one live lesson per week in every subject. Please be clear, this complements work set on Frog, it is not a replacement for it. Since I last wrote to you, over 500 live lessons have been delivered but research still shows variety is key for all the reasons mentioned in my last update. May I take this opportunity to thank students for the sensible way they have engaged in these lessons. Please remember to continue to keep to a routine of timetabled lessons, wherever possible, and make sure you stop at the end of the school day. Y11 and Y13 exams As you may already know, currently Ofqual and the DFE are consulting about how student grades should be awarded this summer. As a school we will be responding to this consultation.
