The teams will face off again today at 2 p.m. ET in the third and final NHL Global Series game of 2018-19 (also Oct. 6: NJD 5, EDM 2). * Entering the game with three goals in 12 games this season, Laine scored two tie-breaking goals before completing his fifth career hat trick into the empty net. The 20-year-old, Tampere, Finland native already shares fifth in career hat tricks among Finnish-born players, behind Olli Jokinen (7), Tomas Sandstrom (8), Teemu Selanne (22) and Jari Kurri (23). * The only other hat trick in a game played outside North America came more than 20 years ago, when Theo Fleury (3-2—5) factored on all five Flames goals in a 5-3 victory against the Sharks at Yoyogi Arena in Tokyo, Japan - the fourth regular-season NHL game ever contested outside North America.
