8 January/February 2020 HOPE Dementia Ministry Presents Free Dementia Education Sessions Maplewood Senior Center - Maple Room 31735 Maplewood, Garden City Held the 2nd Saturday of each month 10:00am - 11:00am

Saturday, January 11, 2020 Brain Health and Protecting Our Brains Through Diet

This session will concentrate on understanding our modern food supply and how it may be affecting the health of our brains. We may think we are making healthy choices about our diet, but not understanding the sources of our food and how food is manufactured often leads us to the wrong conclusions. Learn how better choices can protect our brains and delay or even prevent the onset of dementia.

Saturday, February 8, 2020 The Brain Benefits of Sleep and Exercise

Even though there has been only minimal success with drug therapy for dementia, there has been much success with other forms of treatment when an early diagnosis of symptoms occurs. Scientists are looking at the brain in a different way and finding that lifestyle may have much more of an effect than ever thought before. High stress, low activity and poor diet may be some of the main reasons that so many people are developing unhealthy brains. This session will explain how quality sleep and increased exercise can help improve and protect your brain.

Topic Booklets are available for purchase - $5 each
