SHRAWLEY PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2016-17 08.05.2017 The objectives of SPC are to seek harmony and progress in a democratic way, to best serve the interests of our community and to improve all aspects of our parish. 1 SPC comprises seven Councillors: Peter Benkwitz Chair Michael Partridge Vice Chair Pip Armstrong Anna Dorrell Caroline Norris Richard Tesh Naomi Thomas Stephen Clee Clerk There have been six meetings held in the year and several working groups and site meetings. 2 Governance: There have been no reported breaches of the Code of Conduct adopted in 2002 and it has again not been necessary to consult the file of Standing Orders. The Council does not make any Councillor allowances including for the Chairman. 3 Budgets and Finance: Opening Balance £9,808.08 Income £8,257.00 (Includes precept & income from various grants) Expenditure £21,965.83 (Includes £10,000.00 in 31 Day Business Savings Account) Surplus £932.83 Closing Balance Current Account at Barclays £961.11 Closing Balance 10 Day Business Account Barclays £50.10 31 Day Business Savings Account Cambridge & Counties £10,034.99 The precept was £5500 and will be the same for 2017/18, held at this level for eight years. The 2017/18 Budget is a similar model to that shown above. The closing balance is in line with common practice at 1.78 x precept. Additionally the Lengthsman’s income and expenditure was £1,800.00 for the year. Excellent internal and external audit reports were received and risk assessment and bank account relocation has been completed during the year. -

I also note that the LGBC is also proposing that homes in Hagley,namely South Rd,Western Rd,Newfield Rd( above numbers 24) and the Closes off will remain in the Furlong Ward of Clent. I strongly believe that that the homes listed immediately above in my second paragraph should also be moved into the Hagley Wards so that ALL homes with Hagley addresses are in Hagley Wards. THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST MARY’S HANLEY CASTLE WITH ST GABRIEL’S HANLEY SWAN Annual Parochial Church Meeting Sunday 21st March 2021 Chair: The Revd Barry Unwin Report for the Parochial Church Council, of St Mary’s Church, Hanley Castle with St Gabriel’s Hanley Swan Calendar Year 2020 Aims and Purposes Our Parochial Church Council (PCC) has the responsibility of cooperating with the incumbent, the Reverend Barry Unwin, in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish, the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. The PCC is also specifically responsible for the maintenance of the churches of St Mary, Hanley Castle and St Gabriel’s Hanley Swan. Objectives and Activities The PCC is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of our parish community. The PCC maintains an overview of worship throughout the parish and makes suggestions on how our services can involve people living within our parish. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and sacrament. When planning our activities for the year, we have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the supplementary guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. In particular, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our parish community through: • Worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus. • Provision of pastoral care for people living in the parish. • Missionary and outreach work. To facilitate this work it is important that we maintain the fabric of our church buildings. -

These responses total 66 pages and it was felt that this was too great to include in total within this appendix. Instead we have included copies of the summaries we used at one of the consultation events. If anyone wishes to see the full schedule of comments this can be e.mailed to them if they send a request to [email protected] 224 Households Responded To Our Questionnaire PARISH LIFE 1.8 Parish Life – What Else You Said • 52 people commented upon what they like. • 7 liked the walks and footpaths. • 11 liked the convenient location of our villages. • 11 also thought that we are a friendly community. • Two interesting comments were: Hanley Swan and Hanley Castle village centres are 'ideal' - an idea of how a village should look and feel. These intangible features require protection and considerate development within the boundaries. One parish but Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan are different villages. They have nothing in common. Please do not confuse matters by assuming they are one. As an issue of heritage it is important that they retain their own identities. -

Home Choice Plus has been designed to improve access to affordable housing. The advantage is that you only register once and the scheme allows you to view and bid on available properties for which you are eligible across all of the districts. Home Choice Plus has been developed by a number of Local Authorities and Housing Associations working in partnership. Home Choice Plus is a way of allocating housing and advertising other housing options across the participating Local Authority areas. (Home Choice Plus will also be used for advertising other housing options such as private rents and intermediate rents).
