Columbia ...........................29 Lovett has seven rushing touchdowns through the first five games of the season. 8. Cornell ...............................26 That Winning Feeling Despite the loss last weekend, junior Chad Kanoff became the first Princeton quarterback to win the first four starts of his career in nearly a quarter century. The last one to do it shared his first name; Chad Roghair won his first five starts of the 1991 season. Kanoff threw for a career-high 321 yards in last week’s 38-31 loss at Brown, which included a 10-yard touchdown pass to Scott Carpenter in the fourth quarter. He is completing 57.3% of his passes this season and averaging 214.8 yards per game; if you take out the Week 3 game vs. Columbia, which was played in torrential rains and gusty winds, he would be averaging 262.3 yards per game. Long Journey Ahead Chad Kanoff connected with senior running back Dré Nelson on a 63-yard pass play to open the second half last weekend. That was Princeton’s longest offensive play since Oct. 27, 2012, when Connor Michelsen hit Roman Wilson for a 72-yard touchdown at Cornell. It was also the first pass play of more than 50 yards since Week 1 of the 2013 season. Cup Of Joe Junior Joe Rhattigan, who missed last week’s game against Brown due to injury, earned his first career start against Colgate when both seniors DiAndre Atwater and Dré Nelson were injured. Rhattigan led the Tigers with 66 rushing yards, and he scored his fourth touchdown of the season. Rhat- tigan has scored at least once in three of the four games he played this season. On the season, Rhattigan is averaging 5.1 yards per carry and 69.8 yards per game. He has eight rushing touchdowns in his career, including the only Princeton score in last year’s loss to Harvard. Catching On During the preseason scrimmage his freshman year, Isaiah Barnes suffered a season-ending (and potentially career-threatening) ankle injury. Barnes has worked his way back and had a career performance with eight catches for 92 yards two weeks ago in the win over Colgate. Barnes currently ranks second at Princeton with 13 receptions and 171 receiving yards this season. Call A Carpenter Junior tight end Scott Carpenter, an All-Ivy honoree last year, had only three catches in the first four games of the season, but he came back with five last weekend against Brown. His fourth-quarter touchdown catch (10 yards) evened the score at 31-31, and he caught a two-point conversion pass earlier to tie the score at 24-24. Carpenter, who is tied with Trevor Osborne for the team lead in touchdown catches this season (2), has caught each of Princeton’s last two successful two-point conversions. Green at Cardinals practice today looked like the 2015 version,” Riddick tweeted. “He was on fire. Arizona has the potential to have top-five wide receiver group with DHop, AJ, Rondale Moore, and Christian Kirk.” The Cardinals have lots of depth now at QB: Kyler Murray saw his first snaps this preseason, but the wide receiver position with the additions for Green it was evident Kliff Kingsbury sees little value in giving and Moore this offseason. his superstar quarterback an extended preseason look. He played nine snaps against the Chiefs before giving TE: The tight end position remains one of the big way to Colt McCoy and Chris Streveler. Those nine question marks. ARIZONA CARDINALS Passing Game: QB Kyler Murray • Week 1 – 230, 1-1, 13-91-1 @ SF. Murray was actually at 100 RUYD before kneeling twice for -5 yards in victory formation. Fantasy football can be so heart- breaking. His performance was still nice after a slow start. He meshed well with DeAndre Hopkins, operating at an up-tempo pace (76 snaps). Murray’s rushing was the difference against a good 49ers defense, allowing the Cardinals to come from behind and pull off the week 1 upset. • Week 2 – 286, 1-1, 8-67-2 vs. WAS. The speedy, elusive Murray again made defenders look silly on his way to the end zone twice on scrambles. He is running a lot more this year. He’s showing out with a better supporting cast thanks to DeAndre Hopkins. • Week 3 – 270, 2-3, 5-29-1 vs. DET. He wasn’t very good in this game, but the fantasy points were still scored because he accounted for all 3 of the Cardinals’ TDs. Murray’s RUTD was a ridiculously freaky juke that embarrassed the defender. He has a RUTD in 3 straight games. Murray relentlessly worked his connection with DeAndre Hopkins and found Andy Isabella for his first score. • Week 4 – 133, 3-0, 6-78-0 @ CAR. Murray and the Cardinals offense was much worse in real life, but Murray’s fantasy line was great. The Cardinals were outmatched for more than 2 quarters. At halftime, Murray had 54 PAYD. Murray turned it on when the Cards were trailing 28-7.
