Affordable Housing and Services for Older Adults - An innovative approach to develop a sustainable, replicable model of affordable housing and social services, unique to low income older adults living in rural communities. Leading the conversation about aging in Oregon - Our whitepaper series informs, increases awareness and invites engagement around critical elements impacting Oregon. Topics include our changing age structure, the lack of financial security among older adults, housing challenges and healthcare system capacity. We are shining a light on new ways of thinking about structure, availability and delivery of resources for older adults. OUR INITIATIVES ARE DEVELOPED IN RESPONSE TO UNIQUE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUAL COMMUNITIES LED BY COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS. DRIVING CHANGE BY ENGAGING THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEIR COMMUNITIES BEST ABOUT US AGE+ IS BUILDING ON THE JESSIE F. RICHARDSON FOUNDATION'S 20 YEARS OF GLOBAL AGING EXPERIENCE TO FOCUS ON ISSUES AFFECTING LOW-INCOME OLDER ADULTS IN OREGON. We work with community partners to build their capacity and create sustainable solutions that improve every day life for older adults living in poverty, preserving dignity and encouraging independence. BY 2030, THE NUMBER OF OREGONIANS 65+ IS PROJECTED TO SWELL TO OVER A MILLION. OLDER ADULTS WILL THEN COMPOSE 23% OF OREGON’S POPULATION, UP FROM 14% IN 2010. DRIVING CHANGE BY ENGAGING THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEIR COMMUNITIES BEST OUR PROVEN MODEL IS ONE OF COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT We bring our expertise in aging to empower local communities to address challenges in serving low income older adults. This collaborative method strengthens existing supports and resources through a continuous process of analysis and alignment, long and short term planning, additional resource development, implementation and evaluation.
