Sylvie Lucas, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the United States On September 16th, 2016, Ambassador Sylvie Lucas presented her Letter of Credence to President Barack Obama. Prior to her appointment as the 14th Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United States of America, Ms. Lucas served from August 2008 to August 2016 as Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the United Nations in New York. From 2004 to 2008, Ambassador Lucas held the position of Director for Political Affairs in Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notably during Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union in 2005. In this capacity, she was responsible for bilateral political relations, EU common foreign, security and defense policy, NATO, international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, the OSCE, or the Council of Europe, as well as for issues like human rights and rule of law or non-proliferation and disarmament. The Ambassador also held the post of Deputy Director for Political Affairs from 2000 to 2003. Before, she served for five years as Luxembourg’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, beginning in 1995. Ms. Lucas has furthermore served as Luxembourg’s Ambassador to Portugal (2003-2004), and, simultaneously, as non-resident Ambassador to Cabo Verde. She began her diplomatic career in 1990, when she joined her Foreign Ministry’s Directorate for Political and Cultural Affairs. From 1991 to 1995, she served in the Directorate for International Economic Relations.

    MODERATOR Dana Eidsness Director, Maine North Atlantic Development Office (MENADO) Through her work leading MENADO, Ms. Eidsness leverages Maine’s transportation, economic development, and knowledge resources to build networks that grow the Maine economy through trade in goods, services, and innovation exchanges. Her program interfaces with other Arctic and North Atlantic-focused organizations to ensure that Maine is included in important discussions regarding North Atlantic resources, sustainable development, and climate resilience. Ms. Eidsness was instrumental in developing collaboration with Finland that led to the signing of a 2019 MOU between Finland and the State of Maine. Dana served on the U.S. delegation to the Arctic Council’s PAME Working Group during the U.S. Chairmanship and was Chair of the Host Committee that welcomed the Arctic Council in Maine in 2016. MENADO is an Arctic Economic Council (AEC) Permafrost Member and Dana leads the AEC’s Blue Economy initiative and Working Group. In prior positions, Dana served as Director of International Business for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, managing their international programs and Shanghai Office, she was Executive Director of the Forum on Democracy & Trade in Washington, D.C., Vermont Director of International Trade and Executive Director of the Vermont Global Trade Partnership; and she worked as a regional director for the Maine International Trade Center and as an International Project Manager for the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a program of the U.S. Department of Commerce and National Institute of Standards and Technology. Earlier in her career, Dana worked in the private sector in a variety of international positions and as an international business development consultant.

He is currently the General Manager for the Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GeSCI) based in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, he oversees GeSCI’s programme development and operations. Alice Kaudia Environment Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MEMR), Kenya Alice Kaudia is Environment Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources Kenya. She graduated from the University of Nairobi, followed by a PhD in Forestry Extension and Development by the University of East Anglia, UK, 1996.
